Period is late, tests are negative, is this normal?

Posted in another topic but didn’t get a response so hope it’s okay to post here.

I had a baby 11 weeks ago. I had my first period on 21 May and it lasted 5 days like normal, it was heavier than usual but that was all. I’m exclusively formula feeding. My cycles are generally 28-32 days, so the latest I should’ve started my period is 2 days ago. All the tests I’ve taken have been negative... so is this just normal for after birth or should I wait to take another test? We’ve been using condoms but on the odd occasion have had unprotected sex for a few minutes before putting the condom on.

Yep it’s completely normal postpartum, formula or breastfeeding, to have irregular cycles. I breastfed but my periods returned after six months and some months I’d be up to two weeks late. Definitely wasn’t pregnant, just had crazily erratic cycles. I researched it at the time and it’s completely normal, your body is still going through an adjustment period.

Every time I’ve had a baby and my periods returned (4 times) I’ve had a two month gap between the first and second periods, then totally back to normal. Probably nothing to worry about.

Thank you for this helpful post! I’m in the exact same position so this has been reassuring.
