Our local fire brigade also got caught out by this one. Unless you park on the surface of the sun, it won't happen. The post has vanished from their page, and from the Surrey fire brigade page in the article.

Oh OK always happy to be corrected. I had a very unpleasant experience once with an explosive can of coke on the back seat of my car so I am probably over cautious! I was driving at the time and wondered what the hell was happening! :)

I don't think it's true though? I keep mine in the side pocket of the car out of direct sunlight.
