Sounds like a huge amount is reopening on the 4th of july; bars, restaurants, hairdressers, playgrounds, hotels and B&Bs, tourist attractions, and you can have an unlimited amount of people over to your house once you stick to one household over at a time. I hope it's not too much too soon.

By September there will be no SD for kids. I think that's what he is gearing up to with all these changes, so his promise of all kids being back at school can be realised.

Tbh, I’m not seeing a lot of SD now anyway.

I think it’s the risk of fluid transfer and the high velocity expulsion of air that cause issues for gyms. Churches are open but no singing as that’s high risk.

Childcare is (mostly) back open now. My daughters nursery is back and has been since 1st of june. Also, it's the same as every other summer when schools arent in surely? What do parents do normally for childcare? If it's going to a grandparents house that will be allowed by the 4th of july as houses will be allowed to mix.

Being selfish here I know but this is still no real benefit to DH and I. ☹️

Haven’t seen or spoken with our adult dd - only child - since 22 March.
She lives in supported living as she has SLD and we won’t be able to visit again until social distancing ends totally. We don’t phone her as she only has the speech/understanding of a toddler so it would distress her far too much. Same with trying to see her through a window/gate. ☹️

Fortunately, at the centre where she lives the staff are amazing and have sent us videos/cards etc. and phone us several times each week. She seems to be coping fine but it is agony being away from her.

I know this is selfish of me, but I’m actually jealous of everyone in non essential retail/hospitality etc that gets to go back to work now, meanwhile I’m still stuck working from home! Almost feels like I’m on house arrest. It wasn’t that long ago that I worked in retail myself, would have much preferred being out & about and having a normal routine.

There is obviously more of an issue with actors on stage, but I would have thought that could be dealt with in some way - the bubble system used in secondary schools??

I wonder how it's going to work in shops - I think they should keep 2m inside.

They could offer alternatives:

2m, queues and no face coverings; or

1m, probably no queues to get in but have to wear a face covering.

They can keep every other seat/row free in cinemas to start with.

I thought they were only going to open the outdoor parts of pubs first. But table-service only with a few tables taken out to allow some space probably works.

I feel elated, lockdown is ending. I didn’t realise how much I missed things, I can’t wait to go to a pub garden with friends, hopefully go back to work, get my hair done, go to the pictures.

I think it is meant to be 1m only if you can't do 2m, which is to help pubs etc. But there will probably be extra rules for places that are going to be 1m, guidance has not yet been published.

Think I read somewhere about cinemas, that they will use every other row, and there will be gaps between households

I thought of that but then if one person gets symptoms the whole company would have to self isolate at home, and you’ve lost your whole production in one go.

Actually, new research is suggesting singing isn’t the risk they first thought. It was all based in one choir getting lots of cases, but it wasn’t replicated in other choirs still singing at the time.

My husband works for a cinema chain and actually they are very easy to social distance in. Seats will be blocked off to maintain distance, as a pp said everyone is facing the same way rather than facing each other plus you are actively encouraged not to even talk never mind singing/shouting/heavy breathing from exercise etc, film times will be staggered to ensure no congestion and with longer gaps to allow time for extra cleaning, queues organised accordingly.... they will be putting hand sanitiser everywhere.... compared to some other businesses it’s actually relatively straightforward. It’s very different to theatres where of course you have the actors performing together, seats are usually smaller and much closer together, in addition cinemas can and do function on much lower attendances than theatres which need to pretty much sell out every show to be viable.

Dh is heavily involved in their plans for reopening and is very confident they can put a very safe environment in place. I’m very excited to hopefully go and watch Mulan and Tenet next month!

Cinemas might have to use only every other row, so there isn’t someone under 2m behind you, a have a one or two seat gap between groups on the same row.

People who cannot wear masks will be 2m for everything. They - and the shielded who will wish to continue at 2m min for everything - might not be able to access everything that others can
