Fat people hate summer? *light hearted*

I'm currently fat, by at least 3st, I have always been overweight by about a stone but the last 3 years am just fat, self inflicted as eat too much crap.

My friend and I were chatting today and I said I'm really not looking forward to this heatwave as I hate summer at the best of times, her reply was "well your overweight so of course you'll hate summer"

She has a point as carrying extra weight isn't great in the heat, but my point was I've ALWAYS disliked summer.

My wedding was in October as hated the idea of sweating in my dress (was quite slim when married), i don't go on holiday to really hot counties or will go out of season to avoid peak heat, hate etc etc

AIBU to assume slim people can dislike summer too? Friend was adamant it's my weight and couldn't get her head round the fact I just don't like summer / hot weather.

Whatever my size, I love summer!

I'm slim and not fond of summer. I prefer winters

She meant you're overweight, not your overweight. Anyway, a dislike of heat is certainly not just for bigger people. It's an individual thing.

Why do people do this? It's the MN equivalent of a ticker that says "I'm a twat".

I hates summer when I was 8 stone, I still hate it at 18 stone.

My worst nightmare would be living in a hot country 😩

I'm pleased to see slim people also dislike summer / heat, I've coped quite well today, can't wait until the end of the week when it drops a few degrees.

I've noticed a lot of my work colleagues are having heat competitions, one said "the hotter the better" and "can't sit until it's 30 plus" I'll wait until winter before I take my revenge 🤣

I HATE summer or more the heat! And i'm a 8-10 so definitely not any. Also it feels for me like the majority of people feel invigorated and motivated in the summer, in some people though i read heat may trigger feelings of agitation, aggression, making them feel out of control...perhaps this is a little too serious but definitely tells you it isn't a size thing

I used to be skinny and was okay up to the high 20s. Now I’m much heavier I struggle with anything over 20. I did lose a bit of weight over the winter and I seem okay to about 23-24 degrees.

It's the humidity that kills me....chunky and pale and live in Aus... we have summer pretty much oct - apr but it's a dry heat. 35+ where we are - hot but bearable, dresses, sandals, linen etc all good! (Never mind the fires...). 27c in London and I die... drown in boob sweat and chaffing... northern hemisphere summers are something else (and it's daylight for so bloody long... I need the darkness to restore my introvert soul).

Brutal mate you got there tho...

Hated it since infancy, as has DP.

Doesn't matter what weight you are, if you hate summer, you hate it.

I like the longer hours of daylight in summer - although I prefer winter it can be a bit depressing that the only hours of daylight are when I'm stuck in an office >.<

But yeah I don't love summer and the heat, most of my favourite things to do are indoors (think theatre, cinema etc.), I don't like spending a lot of time outdoors and that's all most people wanna do in summer :(

Not a big fan of English hot hot summer, love dry heat though. I’m not overweight at all but have thick dark hair and even when it’s up and wearing a hat feel like my brain is being cooked.

Everyone knows Autumn in England is by far the best season.

I don’t like the sleeping at night during heat of summer
I hate wearing summer clothes
I hate hot holidays
I seem to not function very well in the heat and get a kind of brain fog

I’m not at all looking forward to this heatwave as I’m breastfeeding so heat is made even worse by having another human attached to me like a permanent hot water bottle

My DH loves summer and that annoys me too

I hate summer too and I'm slim. You can't sleep at night and you have to constantly shave. I do shave all the time as I'm married but in the winter it means I don't need to worry about every little detail.

I hate sweating and I hate the shape of my feet which means I can never wear those fancy sandals to complete a nice outfit. Beach holidays, I look awful with wet hair and I hate sunburns. I can't wear my hair down in summer as it's too unbearable as it sticks to my face. I can't wear makeup as it's too sticky and won't stay on my face plus the heat makes my skin all yucky where I get these tiny pimples everywhere.

Fat summer lover here. Waking up to sunshine, sitting outside, going to the beach, long evenings with cool drinks...all lovely. It only lasts a month or two at best in the UK, interspersed with rainy days, so I make the most of it. It’s fecking cold, grey and rainy the rest of the year.

Well I'm a joy to be around today , it's been 33 and the sun and summer can just fuck off right now.
The day has gone on forever, roll on 9.22pm which is the predicted time the bastard, shiny, hot yellow thing in the sky will finally stop tormenting me.

Too hot to cook my lovely steak and chips so eating cereal and if anyone suggests to put them on the bar B Q I'm liable to stick skewers in their eyes 🥵

I am overweight and summer clothes look dire on me. I took a dress back today as it looked great on the hanger just not on me. There isn't a dress out there for sale I look any good in! I loath sandals as I have horrible feet too.
I love covering up in winter time : summer the heat and lockdown is the pits! 😅
I have cut down on food a lot too in an effort to lose a bit! Mid 50s it's hard going.
I am a legendary summer hater!

Do people on here find that hating the hot weather seems to wind others up?
I get ' oh it's lovely ; your such a misery ' type conversations.
' I hate the cold ' etc etc.
we're all different! I actually dread summer so much!

CookPassBabtridge · 25/06/2020 18:52

True for me.. I hated summer when fat as I wanted to cover up and always felt too hot. Getting to a healthy weight has made me enjoy it. I still prefer spring and autumn though!

I'm slim, I managed to go shopping (sons birthday card/balloons) in jeans and a black top today, I had a crushed ice drink which I'm sure saved me.

I'm now indoors dying in my underwear, I HATE the heat! Your friend is a bit of a prick.

@The80sweregreat love your username and think we could be kindred spirits, to be also ugly feet - think Fred Flintstone.

Yes! Totally irritates me when these sun lovers say "the hotter the better" or "make the most of it" I don't go round in the depths of winter declaring how much o love this weather and "the colder the better" although maybe I should 🤣

I'm not so hung up on how I look now as spent 20 odd years worrying, I do however care about how I feel and, feeling hot and sweaty is just not for me!
