to be sick of always being the person who moves?

Not talking about people with mobility issues, little kids or even self absorbed teenagers who dont acknowledge a world outside their heads but everyone else!

Why am I moving 2 metres away from people blithely sailing through the supermarket or streets instead of both people moving 1 metre away from each other? No love, you stand your ground, in the middle of the fucking aisle so there is no way anyone can pass you whilst social distancing, and browse between this white long grain rice and that fucking identical rice.

Or worse are people who stand there giving me a filthy look because I am about to encroach on their personal 2 metre space without offering to move and make it easier for both of us.

FFS sick of fucking people at the moment. Frankly, bring back lockdown if it means I never have to see another fuckwit.

Yes, I am having a bad day.

I feel your pain. Some people are just bloody Ignorant.

PyongyangKipperbang · 22/06/2020 22:55

I just think, sorry (!) but we are in this together so surely we should work together?

If you are in the middle of a wide pavement and I am coming towards you, we both move to avoid each other rather than one of us, invariably me, walking in the fucking road?

In the village where I live its like a freestyle Strictly round sometimes with people doing the dance of trying to avoid each other thing, its quite funny. But in town (had to go in, didnt want to) its like "Fuck you, if you dont want to catch it then move but I'm sticking to my path"

I am beginning to understand why some people are asking "is it all over?" because so many people seem to be acting like that. The CCTV of me moving through the shopping centre must have looked like one of the dance scenes from West Side Story!

I tend to think that if you believe the virus is capable of flinging itself from me to you as I take the half a second to walk within two meters past you, then I’m not the one that’s being unreasonable here.

While I understand your concern because of the fear that is everywhere right now, I think it’s worth remembering that it can be really hard to remember every time in a supermarket when you’ve got other things to think about too. Sometimes a minute is needed to think about what rice you want!

therealkittyfane · 22/06/2020 23:06

These are the same people who you have to swerve when walking down a busy high st.
They just keep walking forward regardless of who is coming towards them.

I tried it myself once. I just kept walking and made no eye contact. As if I owned the f’ing street. People miraculously shifted out of my way for once. There were a few near misses. (Sorry men but you’re the worst for this... must have taken you by surprise but you managed to shift at the last minute).

It’s arrogance.

Disclaimer: I’m not talking about ditherers or daydreamers here. I don’t mind stepping round them!

You need to master coughing on demand.

Not just a tickly little annoyance - it needs to sound like you’re going to expel a hairball.

Ignore the dirty looks and just giggle as they throw themselves into any available free space Wink

I feel your pain. It’s not about standing their ground, they don’t care. I’ve been told on numerous occasions that we have to “live our lives again” and “have some normality” and that 2 meters isn’t law, it’s a recommendation. I have a vulnerable parent and I cannot afford to take extra risks, I shop late at night now when it’s empty.

I'm laughing at the West Side Story dance scenes Grin
My bug bear is the children playing out on our street. One of mine tried to go out for a walk but came back after a couple of minutes because she couldn't safely walk past them. I'm shielding so she wants to be careful.

TorkTorkBam · 23/06/2020 00:03

Do you really try to keep 2m away from everyone in the supermarket and on the street at all times? Surely that's impossible? Well it is in my supermarkets and the town pavements anyway. You are setting yourself up for bad days if you expect this.

Its not about that though. I am not at major risk. What pisses me off is people acting like nothing is happening that annoys me because you just know that if and when they get it, they will blame the people who didnt get out of their way and not themselves for not getting out of other peoples way!

Yeah, so what if they do say that?

To paraphrase Taylor Swift, pillocks gonna pillock.

I'm sorry you're having a bad day, but your post made me laugh!
I feel your pain, though.
I'm a runner. We have plenty of room in our corner of Colorado for everyone to exercise, yet almost daily I have to face down a cyclist on the sidewalk.

I can easily run around children, strollers, older folks ("on your left!"), and etc.

However, since March, it's been a game of chicken with cyclists.
I want to yell, "You. Are. Technically. A. Vehicle!"
Hmm

I walked round a corner today on a fairly narrow footpath and found a bloke marching towards me. He carried right on and expected me to leap out of his way. No acknowledgement of me whatsoever. Git.
