To ask for art recommendations?...

Just moved into a new house.

I’m essentially after recommendations for artwork. Ideally abstract. Something different but affordable (up to 1k). Limited edition or original. Can anyone recommend any galleries that might fit the bill?!

That Art Gallery in Bristol. The owner loves abstract work and can help you find something perfect. The gallery has a website which includes works from the current and previous shows, if none are suitable then the gallery can recommend other artists.

Scotland Art they are really helpful.

If you’re on instagram there are a huge number of artists who have joint the artists support pledge to help each other during lockdown.
Basically they are putting works of art up for £200 or less (sometimes they would’ve been a lot more expensive, so you’re getting a bargain), and once they have made £1k from selling their work, they pledge to buy another artist’s work.
If you search for #artistsupportpledge you should find lots of inspiration.

Art Republic in Brighton. Loads of different stuff, originals and limited edition prints etc, also provide a framing service, and delivery obviously. Always helpful, never been disappointed with them.

Castle fine art have galleries all over and you can buy online. We get most of our art there

Toodeloo · 21/06/2020 08:53

Check artgallery.co.uk there are loads of artists on there. I am one of them, but whilst I work in expressionistic abstracts i don’t have much on for sale there just now. If you’re interested, I can pm you my insta.

I'd be getting me some Pete McKee or Terry Bradley. It'd be prints with 1k budget.

dementedma · 21/06/2020 09:16

Check out Derek Robertson. Famous for his wildlife work but also does abstracts. Just gorgeous.

Like @Thingsthatgo I was going to say check out the Artist Support Pledge on Instagram. You’d be supporting artists directly many of who are losing out on sales and teaching work during lockdown. Lots of artists are donating a percentage to charity of their choice. There are some well known artists as well. All for £200 plus post, bargain! I’ve sold three pieces so far 👩‍🎨

I've just bought something from the Artist Support Pledge. There are some really talented artists on there.

Thanks so much! Some absolutely brilliant recommendations. Already seen a couple of pieces I love through the Artist Support Pledge!
I usually buy through Whitewall and Castle but fancied something different, agree that they have a fantastic portfolio of artists though.
