@BobbyTheVetIsMyHero

Anyone know what this one is?
It means pearl. Pronounced shinju in Japanese, zhenzhu in Chinese.
BobbyTheVetIsMyHero · 22/06/2020 14:23

Oh good! It's supposed to :)

LellyMcKelly · 22/06/2020 14:29

So basically the first one means Travelodge 😂

I think it was from a religious quote.
I had it done about 20 years ago.
I have a feeling it was a Buddhist quote.

Myname I don't think the photo of your first foot attached?

Xiaoxiong · 22/06/2020 22:17

Oh no sorry - I see it up the thread!

Xiaoxiong · 22/06/2020 22:24

I actually thought it could have been a mistaken attempt to do 心花怒放 which means "brimming with joy". But that third character is pretty clearly 开 in traditional characters so probably not!

@MyNameHasBeenTaken

I know what I asked for... But I will join in the confirmations
This might be a beautiful phrase in Buddhism.

心華 means one‘s conscience, true intention.

開發 can be loosely translated as ‘open up’.

The four words put together means ‘suddenly realise’ which is a highly regarded achievement in Buddhism.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 23/06/2020 10:01

Thanks mohb
I think that is the general sentiment of it.

I remember when dd was watching a something on YouTube once of these two little Chinese girls making their own show.
I noticed that one of the girls had "I'm and alcoholic" written on the front of her t-shirt ShockGrin Pretty sure her parents didn't know that what it meant either.
I took a picture of it to show my friend. I'll see if I can find it..

At uni done arse was showing off his chinese writing saying it meant honour and courage etc. A chinese Guy said ‘Erm it actually days ‘a fool and his money are easily parted’ the guy shut up and shuffled off. Someone said ‘wow is that really what it said ?’ the guy shrugged and said. ‘Fucked if I know I’m from Birmingham and can’t read mandarin’ his grandparents were chinese and migrated here before his parents were born.
