I was just tucking in to dinner when I was treated to a juicy close up of just that (hurk). I thought exactly the same thing - surely they've been advised against spitting and... snot rocketing.

I get why they do it, their mouths fill with saliva, but yeah. It's a really bad time to be spitting on the pitch.

I wondered if they were going to make players wear masks but it would be too impractical. Imagine being a goalkeeper and trying to keep the damn thing on while you're throwing yourself all over the place.

They are constantly tested for COVID-19 so while minging, it isn't going to spread a virus they haven't got.
