Any experience of travelling to France in the last few weeks?

I know we are still in a lockdown Smile but has anyone travel to and from France recently (for work, for emergencies, for essential reasons?)

How were the checks at the border, were you asked to prove your reason for travelling? I can see that most travel restrictions are not so strict and lifted within most of Europe, and wondering what experience people have, and if you have any advice?

Hoping someone "in the know" will come along. Need to fly to France as soon as.

I’m in France and have been here throughout lockdown. I don’t know about flights from the UK but the border with Switzerland is now wide open.

I think there are people driving to France and the French seem quite relaxed about it. Technically you're supposed to voluntarily quarantine for 2 weeks on arrival.
You will be asked to declare that you have no symptoms of Covid 19 and if asked submit to a temperature check at the port.

Not first hand but friends of ours own a home in mid France and took the car through the tunnel last week. They had all their papers to prove ownership and were let through for ‘repatriation’.

You need to fill in a form which is available to download from most airline sites. It’s basically self certifying that you don’t have Covid. It may not be necessary in a couple of weeks time as there’s talk about it being rescinded. Sorry, I can’t do a link...

@makingmammaries is the border from Switzerland to France open?

I came back to France from UK (I am a French resident tho' but Uk passport holder) 2 weeks ago through the tunnel. UK passport control asked how long had we been in the Uk and why? French passport laughingly told us 'don't come back to the Uk now' - this was the day before the quarantine started. Nobody asked for any of the documents we were told to carry (non Covid declaration, proof of residence or the international travel declaration) and it was very straightforward.
