Is my 20 month old’s breakfast sufficient?

He’s very fussy and currently has the same cereal every morning. He doesn’t like eggs, doesn’t really eat toast. He has fruit and yogurt too sometimes.
I’m just thinking maybe he should be having more variety. Or maybe I’m being paranoid!

It's fine, lots of kids (and adults!) eat the same thing every morning.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as he's having some variety throughout the day. DS would only eat one flavour of porridge and he had this every day for breakfast for about two years!

Perhaps give him his usual ceral, then just put a little plate of a variety of bits next to it in case he feels like giving something else a try?

I honestly wouldn't stress about this after 14 years with a fussy DS. Actually having something reliable and simple in the morning is an absolute god send. DS ate the same cereal for 10 years, plus a slice of toast and drink of milk. We did encourage the odd bit of experimentation particularly on holiday, which meant when Tesco discontinued that cereal we were able to move him onto wheetabix easily enough but the concept still held.

I do work hard to extend his food at lunch and dinner but I am not a morning person and have no time for morning fusses.

Totally fine. DD has weetabix and an orange every morning. Sometimes she pushes the boat out and tolerates a banana. Grin

Absolutely fine imo. My toddler has weetabix every single day because I know she will eat it and it’s easy to hide her vitamin drops in. I vary the fruit she has with it, sometimes add honey, chia seeds, bit of yoghurt etc but essentially it is the same breakfast every single day since she was about 8 months old. She eats a varied diet the rest of the day so I can’t see the issue
