Would you say this is ginger or brown? Just stripped out my old dark colour and tried to go natural.
Dd says brown. Ds wouldn't notice if I grew a sunflower out of my head and i think its gone ginger.
I used to have reddish hair as a kid

Ginger or brown?

It looks ginger towards the roots and browner towards the ends

altiara · 19/06/2020 22:09

Yep ginger roots and then turns brown.

recklessruby · 19/06/2020 22:20

Oh dear. I was hoping for brown Grin. I have been dyeing it dark brown for months but just stripped colour out. Back to the chemist I go....

Be careful.

Virtually all permanent and semi-permanent box dyes contain peroxide, which is why your hair isn't the colour you expected it to be after stripping.

Also, chemically stripping the colour can cause the hair to become more absorbant, so any dye you try now will probably 'take' extremely well and cause more mayhem.

2007Millie · 19/06/2020 22:25

Home stripping won't work.

BigusBumus · 19/06/2020 22:27

Don't re-dye it! 🙁 It's a fantastic colour!!!!

DuckALaurent · 19/06/2020 22:28

It’s “brown with a hint of romance“ Wink

Morgan12 · 19/06/2020 22:30

Auburn and fabulous. Do not dye it!

recklessruby · 19/06/2020 22:30

I started dyeing it originally as i didnt like the red colour (my mum loved it) and its been all sorts so I thought I will get rid of the dark dye and see what happens.
The lockdown boredom got to me.

Its lovely

Guylan · 19/06/2020 22:33

It’s a gorgeous auburn nearer the roots. Am with your mum, love the colour.

Onemorefuck · 19/06/2020 22:34

It’s “brown with a hint of romance“ Wink
I love that!

OP your hair colour looks a bit like mine. And I’m red.

CandyLeBonBon · 19/06/2020 22:34

What's wrong with ginger?

Barabajagal · 19/06/2020 22:35

Why would you dye that? It’s glorious. Google Jessica Chastain.

Spied · 19/06/2020 22:36

Ginger fading to brown

recklessruby · 19/06/2020 22:36

Also what you cant see is i have a nose covered in freckles so look a bit different to pale face/dark hair pre lockdown. I m back at work on Monday.

That's what happens when you use colour B4 or whatever hair stripper. Forget the technical reasons, a hair colourist came on here once and explained it.

recklessruby · 19/06/2020 22:39

But thanks ladies I think I may start to embrace the red Smile

OP posts:
Regularsizedrudy · 19/06/2020 22:39

I may be wrong but my understanding of those hair strippers was that they lift ALL pigment from your hair, including your natural colour

Notredamn · 19/06/2020 22:40

It gradually goes darker after a while, it happened to my hair when I stripped it once.

recklessruby · 19/06/2020 22:45

Yes it was colour B4

IdblowJonSnow · 19/06/2020 22:51

Why the chuff would you want to change that? It's a lovely reddish brown. Leave it! Smile

Mascaramademehappy · 19/06/2020 22:54

I’d say Ginger

eaglejulesk · 19/06/2020 22:57

I can see a hint of ginger - but whatever you call it I think it's lovely and would be beyond happy if mine was the same colour.

GaraMedouar · 19/06/2020 22:59

More ginger than brown - it’s a lovely colour
