Some school subjects are set extremely well, but it is clear which teachers are putting in more effort. One subject in particular is bad. English.

I am fed up with being the bad guy trying to 'teach' areas not covered with no real help.

I doubt the school will kind all that much so long as your DS is doing relevant work but don't be too hard on the teachers. We had to learn how to do this v fast and some of us are much better at it than others. I'm setting pretty straightforward stuff wvayse I don't yet know how to use some of the more interactive and fun apps. The English teacher may be dealing with a lot of stuff at home that another isn't and has less time to play about learning the tricks.

Yes, sorry I didn't mean to be negative. I think English is probably the hardest subject to teach remotely, and I think that watching the lessons may be easier.

yanbu and we have done the same. ds can happily engage with the school set worksheets for maths, history, art etc but goes to pieces if expected to engage with an english worksheet with no support. so we forget the English stuff from school and do Oak Academy every day.

I think you have to do what works best for you right now.

You could check out owlsrc for help in some areas.

But no, I don't think you're unreasonable for wanting to ignore the worksheets

I'm a secondary teacher. I'd love to see my students looking stuff up that they choose that interest them on BBC Bitesize or oak academy. They are much more likely to learn if they are interested, and have chosen it. No learning is wasted and it will be good self study skills.
