Kirstie Allsopp is at it again

She's tweeted (spelling.typos are hers):

I am NOT having a go at teachers, but how can we argue against schools going back when we’ve never even asked if teachers could infect kids with measles, mumps, meningitis etc.? Covid is NOT a denger to kids and is far less of a denger to teachers than many believe.

and yet this is her bio:

"All we can do at the moment is be kind, compassionate & sensible. When we can’t hug we shouldn’t judge."

OP posts:
HappydaysArehere · 19/06/2020 09:29

Reading that post I thought “what an idiot”.

awaynboilyurheid · 19/06/2020 09:43

Agree, a spoiled privileged living in a bubble idiot .

Mascotte · 19/06/2020 09:45

I agree with Kirsty on this one.

Not making hand made tat tho 😃

Lynda07 · 20/06/2020 02:04

I don't see what she has said that is particularly controversial.

Fieldofgreycorn · 20/06/2020 02:22

@Lynda07

I don't see what she has said that is particularly controversial.
It’s hinting at the elephant in the room... that people suspect lots of teachers just hate their jobs and want to put off going back as long as possible.
Disquieted1 · 20/06/2020 02:24

She's fucking right!
But instead of considering what she actually said, we get the usual 'follow the first responder' mumsnet pile on. After all, she votes Conservative so she must be wrong about every single thing!

Too many brainless drones on this site nowadays. Too many ad hominem attacks.

Witchcraftandhokum · 20/06/2020 03:29

Yep. Let's get the schools back, fuck social distancing and if we follow China's timeline we'll be back in lockdown for Christmas. Won't that be fun?

exLtEveDallas · 20/06/2020 06:39

Taking one tweet out of context from a stream on the same subject is a dick move. KA has tweeted over days that she is worried about the isolation of the elderly and others shielding, the fact that less than 5% of vulnerable children have gone to school, concern for children for whom school is a safe place and that over 2 million children have done no work at home.

The MMR thing comes after a tweet asking if teachers routinely have the flu jab, which led on to the MMR, Switzerland’s policy on unvaccinated children not being allowed in school and whether unvaccinated children were dangerous to teachers and vice versa. She also thinks it’s ridiculous that pubs could reopen before schools (as do I).

But don’t worry OP, she’s has quite a bit of a kicking and abuse on Twitter so has been deleting some of the threads, so I expect you’ll be happy.

FromEden · 20/06/2020 07:05

Why can people not just have a conversation or debate these days? Its straight away just attack and insult anyone with a differing opinion. Its tiresome.

BatShite · 20/06/2020 07:42

Hmm. Read with others I think it makes sense.

Though it did look quite odd, just that one with the bio to start with.

RightIsRight · 20/06/2020 07:45

She’s completely right.

RightIsRight · 20/06/2020 07:46

Agree. Kirstie is only hated on here because she’s apparently a Tory. That is specifically not allowed on here and any opinion from one is immediately shot down and ridiculed.
RightIsRight · 20/06/2020 07:47

And you’re not allowed to have money on Mumsnet either...
cologne4711 · 20/06/2020 07:51

She chose the wrong diseases to talk about as we have vaccinations (though not all meningitis vaccines are available to all age groups on the NHS yet) but she's right in so far as we didn't close schools before we had vaccines for polio etc (though swimming pools, theatres etc closed when there were outbreaks).

I think her point is that we have to learn to live with this until there is a vaccine, a treatment or it burns itself out. And she's right.

JustJayne69 · 20/06/2020 07:58

Self opinionated woman on social media talking utter bollocks !. Gosh , baste my steaming turkeys.

Sherloidbaisherloid · 20/06/2020 08:21

@MuthaClucker crying laughing 😂

Fieldofgreycorn · 20/06/2020 09:25

I think she is making a good point.

It’s easy to hate on strong opinionated attractive women who seem to have their shit together and also make a lot of money!

But let’s not.

Exactly.

BatShite · 20/06/2020 13:22

that people suspect lots of teachers just hate their jobs and want to put off going back as long as possible.

Yeah, I agree with this and it makes sense. I cannot blame any for hating their jobs either, it must be so stressful, much more stressful than many jobs anyway. Not even necessarily hating the job, but wanting the current lifestyle going on a bit longer as its preferable to them.

Again cannot really blame them for it, all people want their life to be the best/easiest it can be really! Its not dissimilar to those on furlough who are suddenly claiming its too early to go back to work as its dangerous to be in public, when they have been for a while now posting selfies of them outside in the public at parks, beaches, etc and their job is not even public facing. Its not about risk. Its about wanting to keep current circumstances. And again, its totally understandable! Many berating people for this would be likely doing the same, if they were (at the time when this was most rife, not so much now..and obviously not claiming all furloughed could do this but a lot seemed to be..) able to lie in, sunbathe through the day, relax and get almost full pay for doing so. Like hell would they want to give that up and yes, would try to keep it going as long as possible as its something thats unlikely to ever happen again!

Not saying all teachers, or all furloughed either..before that starts. But a fair few, I would say its that^ But again, even if it is, no judging here at all and I don't blame them one bit. They did not create the situation, and its natural to want to make the best of the situation for yourself and your family.

JimTiddleysMate · 21/06/2020 17:46

The problem with OP's post, is that lots of people can't wait to "pile in" on the likes of Kirsty Alsopp, Katie Hopkins, etc. They are "right wing" i.e. common sense women who don't believe the cultural-marxism hype imported from the US, and amazing this have their own independent thoughts away from the virtue signalling keyboard warriors who are always on message, and cannot abide an opinion different from themselves. Especially if it has anything to do with common sense ...

Of course MN Massif cannot bear this assault on their own liberal intolerance supporting whatever twitter outrage bllx they are spouting (irony never a strong point for MN massif).

JimTiddleysMate · 21/06/2020 17:49

Anyway its pudding-time on Sunday, I have been thinking all weekend and doing real-in-the-world positive stuff, and I really haven't got time for this keyboard warrior shite anymore. Soon MN hyper-liberal twerps will be stewing in their own virtue-siganlling self-agreement (like those Churchill nodding dogs selling insurance in adverts Grin).

Ta-ra!

Allnamesaregone · 21/06/2020 17:51

It’s my understanding for under 65’s around 600 people have died out of 40,000 total deaths for all ages
The question then becomes - is that a significant risk?

Buzzfrightyears · 22/06/2020 12:50

That’s around 1.3% of the total death toll. 450 die of cancer every day (across all ages) for comparison!
