She's tweeted (spelling.typos are hers):

I am NOT having a go at teachers, but how can we argue against schools going back when we’ve never even asked if teachers could infect kids with measles, mumps, meningitis etc.? Covid is NOT a denger to kids and is far less of a denger to teachers than many believe.

and yet this is her bio:

"All we can do at the moment is be kind, compassionate & sensible. When we can’t hug we shouldn’t judge."

OP posts:
MayFayner · 18/06/2020 18:43

I don’t see what measles etc has to do with anything but other than that I agree with her.

Anyone can have a typo or a spelling mistake. It’s not “embarrassing” or indicative of a lack of intelligence.

iajeheb · 18/06/2020 18:45

Maybe she should ask the parents of the 13 day old baby who died of coronavirus if they don't consider it a danger to children 🤨 The risk is minimal but there is definitely still a danger to some.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 18/06/2020 18:46

I actually agree with her.’not on the actual diseases quoted perhaps but certainly on the principle.

We failing our children

butterpuffed · 18/06/2020 18:46

So she says "covid isn't a danger to kids and is far less of a danger to teachers than many believe."

When did she become a member of the medical profession Hmm

AfterSchoolWorry · 18/06/2020 18:47

Denger ! Ha 😝

Celan · 18/06/2020 18:48

I agree with her.

DomDoesWotHeWants · 18/06/2020 18:50

@Celan

I agree with her.
But neither of you are right.
Ulysses · 18/06/2020 18:50

I agree with her too.

mbosnz · 18/06/2020 18:52

What's her field of expertise? Epidemiology? Medicine? Education? No?

KitchenConfidential · 18/06/2020 18:58

Maybe she should ask the parents of the 13 day old baby who died of coronavirus if they don't consider it a danger to children 🤨 The risk is minimal but there is definitely still a danger to some.

I was going to say this.

lilgreen · 18/06/2020 19:00

Tricky when you have to look after your own kids eh Kirstie??

JacobReesMogadishu · 18/06/2020 19:01

Does she not realise that actually the. Main issue isn’t about it being a danger to children or not....it’s about them carrying it, spreading it, taking it home, having outbreaks in communities due to multiple kids in small spaces and probably not socially distancing very well.

lilgreen · 18/06/2020 19:02

Many teachers are 50 or 60+!!

mbosnz · 18/06/2020 19:04

I wonder if she's been regretting smashing that i-pad. . .

AllPlayedOut · 18/06/2020 19:05

The baby did not die of Covid. Maternal Covid-19 was a secondary factor.

"The primary cause of death was listed as severe hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy, where the brain is starved of blood and oxygen.
"Maternal COVID-19 was listed as a secondary cause."

SecularPanic · 18/06/2020 19:07

Can someone please give me an example of teachers preventing schools from reopening?

felineflutter · 18/06/2020 19:11

Grin @MuthaClucker

SockYarn · 18/06/2020 19:19

Now now @AllPlayedOut, don't let anything like fact get in the way of COVID IS GOING TO KILL YOU ALL.

macaronilemonpony · 18/06/2020 19:21

Sounds like she’s been at the pink gin again...

OliviaPopeRules · 18/06/2020 19:24

AllPlayedOut don't let facts get in the way of a good story! I agree with KA.

HollowTalk · 18/06/2020 19:26

Very cruel to comment on Kirstie's spelling, given that she's dyslexic.

ALongHardWinter · 18/06/2020 19:27

Did she really spell 'danger' like that?! Grin

Roselilly36 · 18/06/2020 19:36

Autocorrect or dyslexia was my first thought. I like Kirstie tbh.

Aragog · 18/06/2020 19:36

Well I have had all childhood vaccinations. I've had my immunity checked for serval childhood illnesses, including chicken pox.
She mentions flu later in - I have a flu jab yearly too. Granted I have that to protect myself mainly though it's also to ensure I can remain working teaching the children at school.

So in terms of those kind of illness I am of no risk to the children I teach.

There is more risk that the children will pass things to me, based on years of working in schools.

mbosnz · 18/06/2020 19:39

Didn't she and her husband lead the charge of the overprivileged to their holiday homes - and he was positive for Covid?

I'm a lot less partial to her now.
