Hello,
Just need to talk. Dh has combat ptsd and has been very afraid of the coronavirus ever since this started.
None of us has left the house much and dh works from home and only left the house after nightfall to go jogging (alone) because he was afraid of meeting other people.

Now dh has a fever and a cough. The rest of us are okay. Dh is self isolating now and very afraid and to be honest I feel a bit afraid too.

He doesn’t want to see a gp because he is afraid of catching the coronavirus if he doesn’t already have it.

He has a fever and a cough but NO loss of smell or taste.

He can order a test without seeing the gp, then at least he'd know whether he had it or not. Hopefully it will be a mild case.

Poor guy. What is his temp. Is he coughing anything up or in pain. Has he taken anything to make him feel more comfortable and bring his temp down. You can look at the NHS website or call 111 for advice.

He needs to get tested.

He shouldn’t go and see a GP anyway just in case. Best think for him is to isolate from you both for a week, and for you and your daughter to self-isolate for two weeks to avoid passing it to someone else.

Make sure he rests and stays hydrated. Remember that for the vast majority of people it is an illness no worse than flu - miserable, but not life threatening. See if he needs books / iPad etc. to keep him occupied so he’s not just dwelling on feeling anxious.

Hope you’re all better soon. Try not to worry - the overwhelming majority of people who have had Covid have recovered fully and are now well again!

Order a test to do at home, then either way you'll know which way to progress.

It may not be cv. It could be something like a chest infection. Its best to seek expert medical advice from 111.

He can just order a test online and you either drive to test centre (don't leave the car) or have it delivered and then couriered back.

@No, he is not in (physical) pain only very afraid. It’s difficult to make him feel comfortable because he is self-isolating in another building (we live in an odd house, consisting a several buildings, long story). We just skype.
His fever is 101 degrees Fahrenheit.

He is not very sick. Typically we would say “that’s just a cough“ but under the current circumstances it is terrifying.

Have to say we had no known contact with coronavirus.

It might be coronavirus but is he generally fit and well? It's not likely to be serious if so

please get him tested and you all need to self-isolate - there will be help in your local area for shopping etc.

Remember you only generally hear the bad news. For the vast majority it is a recoverable illness, as others have said. The reason it needs to be treated with such caution is to keep it away from the vulnerable.

@CodenameVillanelle He is ex military and works out a lot, so yes, I think he is fit. OTOH he has gained a lot of weight and is a hypertonic. So I am not sure.

(Somehow I Oper that people would say that it is most likely not Covid and more likely to be something else).

He needs a test. I' recommend the drive through as opposed to the DIY one, as it is tricky to get right. But the postal is the next best thing. He should not being going to a GP - GP surgeries are closed and you are told not to attend if you have COVID symptoms.
Most people who get it are "fine", so don't panic

@mencken We have our shopping delivered (contactless delivery)... and we Are isolating now... but actually have been isolating pretty much before. We have no idea where he caught that.

Why is it worse if he gets Covid than any other virus With the same symptoms?

What do you mean he is a hypertonic. Is that just a spell error.

@Happyhammy Sorry. English is not my firs5 language. I meant to say that his blood pressure is not okay. It is to high.

And we have heard thT this makes Covid more serous if you have it.

He needs to test. You can order one to do himself.

You can order a test to come to your house, he does the test and sends it back. You’ll get the results within the next day or so. Ring 119 or google it.

By all means get a test.

But sounds like none of you have been very exposed. It sounds unlikely that he'd have it.
