The yellow brown one looks like a fart costume for Halloween...

Iamthewombat · 17/06/2020 20:21

Some years ago, when those bloody awful elastic ‘walking sandals’ for men became available and were joyfully embraced by the men of Britain, the better to show off their hairy toes and fungal toenails, I took a solemn oath to bin any boyfriend who wore them. I stuck to it too.

That H & M are now attempting to use such abominations in a doomed attempt to make a hideous dress look more fashionable, offends me deeply. What has that poor model done to upset the H&M stylists?

littlebillie · 17/06/2020 20:22

the panto wants the costume back!

User1775836552 · 17/06/2020 20:23

The sandals too 😂

giantangryrooster · 17/06/2020 20:23

I think they have forgotten the black socks in those sandals, and the hairy legs.

Thelnebriati · 17/06/2020 20:25

Well done OP, thats worse than the extra special M&S pink crimplene horror. It ticks all the boxes;
uncomfortable fabric
nasty colour
hideous design
unnecessary extra details
frilly bits

and I bet it generates static like a bastard.

fuuuuuuck · 17/06/2020 20:26

@giantangryrooster thanks. I'm used to people on mn starting posts about many things that I wear! I try not to let it bother me......it doesn't feel good though

Laiste · 17/06/2020 20:26

When did shirt dresses get 5 miles long and with puff sleeves? Shock

Fink · 17/06/2020 20:26

Those sandals are really weird. And I speak as someone who wears sandals like that (I know, I just don't really give a fuck about fashion, I just wear what's comfortable), even I wouldn't wear them with a dress. The black polka dotted one is so much better, and with dress sandals. The stylist clearly hated the mustard model.

MrsJBaptiste · 17/06/2020 20:27

I actually like the sleeves ☺ but not the whole dress, sorry...

Laiste · 17/06/2020 20:28

How many here read the M&S thread last year (was it last year?) with the pink dress? MNers were going in and trying it on for the laugh in the end! I'll look for it ....

WendyHoused · 17/06/2020 20:28

@Merryoldgoat

Who the fuck voted IABU!?
The designer?
BitOfFun · 17/06/2020 20:28

I'd buy it in black, and just peel off those stupid stickers...

ktp100 · 17/06/2020 20:29

I kinda love it, especially the polka dot one.

Oh to be young enough and thin enough and tall enough to pull it off!!

JoysOfString · 17/06/2020 20:30

The olive one looks like she's wearing a large dead jellyfish. And it's polyester as well! 😱

This is the ideal opportunity to ask about these "writer pants". I like Plumo generally but every time I see these I just think they look like someone's first terrible attempt at sewing. Yet they are apparently their most popular thing. pants

Laiste · 17/06/2020 20:30

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2919935-that-awful-pink-m-s-dress

I think this is a spin off thread about it - but it's funny Grin

OldQueen1969 · 17/06/2020 20:31

Whelp. And I say that as a 51 year old Goth whose style encompasses an homage to the Peaky Blinders crossed with Blavatsky with a heavy side of Victorian mourning......that colour is vile but the polka dots on the black version render it unwearable and I love a bit of billowy chiffon or organza.....(great camo for my middle aged spread)..... but I cannot see how that could be styled remotely attractively unless you are of specific proportions......I'm all for embracing eccentricity and fashion as art but sometimes the desire to bring the catwalk to the mainstream can be a bit more litter tray than sophisticat.....

Tiktokgone · 17/06/2020 20:31

Albus I love that!

giantangryrooster · 17/06/2020 20:31

@fuuuuuuck ahh poor you, each to their own Smile.

Laiste · 17/06/2020 20:32

?? ''writer pants''. Looks like they're keeping all their stationary in their gusset to be honest.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/06/2020 20:34

Aposterhasnoname

Grin Grin Grin

PenCreed · 17/06/2020 20:34

@fuuuuuuck

Well I doubt any of you will feel bad but I've got it and I LOVE IT (black and white one) 🖕🏻
I quite like the black one - and the model a) looks happier and b) has a less weird shoe choice. I wouldn't wear it personally because high-necked things make me feel like I'm choking and I think I'm too short to pull it off. But if you can carry it off, more power to you!
OldeMagick · 17/06/2020 20:34

[quote AristotleAteMyHamster]Mind you, Topshop gets an honourable mention for this beauty:

I really like that one Blush

category12 · 17/06/2020 20:35

Wow.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/06/2020 20:36

And it's polyester as well!

Polyester!

The only thing better would be if it was crimpelene . . .
