To be concerned about DD?

My daughter is 6 months this week, she's always been chunky at 80th percentile but was born at 6lb 14oz.

Im now rather concerned about her left arm ans shoulder. It's most definitely chunkier than her right. Her shoulder feels slightly bulkier even down to the bones. I'm anxious that something is majorly wrong as I've read up horrific things.

She uses both arms well, hitting all milestones, rolls over, shuffles etc just is definitely bulkier on one side.

Anyone got any experience? My DP thinks I'm just looking for things to be wrong. I have a connective tissue disorder and scoliosis so unsure if it could be scoliosis already.

Please no telling me I should not have had a baby.

I have no idea what it could be but there's no harm getting her checked.

Poliomolio2 · 17/06/2020 07:53

@SallyWD I've read up some strange things in regards to the one side not stopping growing when it should etc and it can cause tumors which obviously has worried me. I dint want to go behind my partners back is all, but think I'll give a call and try get an appointment over a video chat

You are her mum. It doesn't matter what your partner thinks. If you are concerned get some professional advice. Hope all will be well.

If you are worried you should definitely get an appointment rather than googling & alarming yourself with all sorts you read online. It could be nothing & you'll have made yourself ill with all the worry. Call your GP / baby clinic this morning.

Are you taking about beckwith-wiedemann syndrome? There would be a less then 1 in 10,000 chance and there's usually more of a constellation of symptoms, and 80th percentile is not that big. But if you're worried get it checked out so you can either be reassured or referred.

In a queue for doc appointment! Hopefully it's absolutely nothing to be concerned about and it's not Hemihypertrophy/Hemihyperplasia! Getting a call back before 1pm

@BarbieandKenBruce I am indeed or Hemihypertrophy/Hemihyperplasia.. No definitely I know that! Just anxious as its quite significantly bigger than the other side but she doesn't really have any other symptoms of it. Her head percentile is 99th and her weight at the moment is 95th at 19.25lbs

@Poliomolio2 Good luck with the docs and hope it all gets sorted.

Poliomolio2 · 17/06/2020 11:54

@BarbieandKenBruce thank you! He wasn't concerned as she's moving it the same no pain etc. Did say he could see it was slightly bigger but not concerningly bigger
