Just came across someone in a Facebook group posting something from Traditional Britain

As I had never heard of them, was a bit curious and had time on my hands, I had a mosey to their website.

OMFG!! Shock

traditionalbritain.org/about/

One of their first articles is a post from one of the founders (an hereditary peer} about The Role of Heredity in Politics

Are these people dangerous or just cranks?

My 2020 Batshit Bingo card is missing 'posh Neo-Nazi Party'

I clicked on the link but their articles are so badly written I can’t be arsed to read them all. From reading the first few paragraphs they do sound like a bunch of right wingers trying to hide behind clever words.

Gingernaut · 16/06/2020 16:22

They're not even 'clever words'.

It sounds like the National Front without swear words.

We believe that the heterosexual family is the primary social unit.

Oh do fuck off

Pemba · 16/06/2020 16:30

I was just having a look at that article Gingernaut. Apparently democracy is a 'modern' fashion and we would all have been better off in the Middle Ages being cared for by the local Lord of the Manor! Grin

A spoof, perhaps? Good for a laugh, anyway!

Stompythedinosaur · 16/06/2020 16:39

It's astonishing that men of their privilege could be so inadequate.

It gave me a chuckle.

Thelnebriati · 16/06/2020 16:43

I'm frequently underwhelmed by the standard of education money can buy.

DGRossetti · 16/06/2020 17:23

Posh people don't send their kids to posh schools to learn, but to get a top job with one of their mates money printing presses. After all, what's the only entry qualification for Eton ? Minted parents that's all.

Letsnotusemyname · 16/06/2020 17:37

A group that invites Katie Hopkins to speak has to be.

Far right

Unpleasant

Entitled

Homophobic

Racist

Living in a dream.

Bat shit crazy

Not my cup of tea.

If you want to vote conservative - fine(ish) I’ll still speak to you. They are most unlikely to get my vote - but its ok.

Endorse this lot and I’d find it hard to be civil/remain a friend.

Gingernaut · 16/06/2020 19:42

Endorse this lot and I’d find it hard to be civil/remain a friend.

I'm not endorsing them, honest! 🤣

Today's the first day I have ever heard of them!

OP posts:
Letsnotusemyname · 16/06/2020 23:52

I’d not heard of them either.

A group that keep their hands clean whilst whipping up the knuckle grazers?

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 16/06/2020 23:56

I got as far as "enforced multiculturalism have watered down our rich national character", which is a logical contradiction in itself, then stopped.

Don't think I really need to read any further to get a handle on what this lot are about.

Any group that begins it's mission statement with 'since WWII' just immediately provokes and overwhelming sense of 'aw for fucks sake, here we go again....'

wafflyversatile · 17/06/2020 00:00

Describing them as posh far righters suggests far right opinions are normally the reserve of the lower classes which simply isn't true. Far right ideologies come from the top down.

Apileofballyhoo · 17/06/2020 00:13

They need to go much further back than WWII.

Things really haven't been the same since Runnymede.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 17/06/2020 00:47

@wafflyversatile

Oh yes. Hitler was such an aristocrat.

Tinkerbell456 · 17/06/2020 01:03

Wow. I am by no means a socialist but just reading about some of the beliefs held here- feudal aristocracy? Heterosexual families the basic social unit? As though kids would be better off in a bitterly unhappy house with heterosexual parents than with a happy, stable same sex parents? 😳😱 🤮

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 17/06/2020 01:23

"1.We believe in Britain and the British people, their heritage and customs."

What the hell does this even mean? Are they worried that if you don't 'believe' in British people they'll cease to exist, dematerialise, and disappear off into the ether or something?

Who on earth do they consider the 'British' people anyway? If they're that concerned about heritage and customs, presumably they still observe Pictish, Saxon, Druidic, and Neolithic customs?

Not that I actually care.

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/06/2020 01:36

It appears that they are serious. Which is a bit chilling.

Lots of interesting links in the Wiki entry.

wafflyversatile · 17/06/2020 18:19

Oh yes. Hitler was such an aristocrat

He was the leader of a whole country. How much more top down do you need.

MissConductUS · 17/06/2020 18:22

I'd love to know their views on the American Revolution. Grin

DGRossetti · 17/06/2020 19:04

I'd love to know their views on the American Revolution.

It was a long time ago ?

pointythings · 17/06/2020 20:14

They sound a bit like the British version of the Dutch Forum voor Democratie, whose leader also likes to hide behind big words, a veneer of culture and nice suits. Their agenda is the same, except they have a more overt culture of misogyny.

cinnabarmoth · 18/06/2020 08:28

Their online shop doesn't seem to exist, which won't help with their fundraising efforts. Not that I think they'll be short of cash.
It's good of them to make themselves and their views known, it makes it easier to spot the motivations and political views of those who associate with them
