Woke up an hour before my alarm, my tongue is burning and my throat aches but worse of all, I am so, so nauseous ... I keep balking ... not actually been sick yet though, feel altogether shite.

No idea what it could be? I’m not normally Ill ... no chance of pregnancy 🤮 supposed to be at work today, without actual vomiting would it be unreasonable to call in sick? I feel like like I have the hangover from hell.

sounds like Covid-19.

symptoms can vary a lot.

Do not go into work.

speak to a doctor.

Get a test, and remember there is a high false negative rate.

@IdblowJonSnow

I think the PP is jumping to conclusions, they travelled from Britain but were most likely returning NZ citizens.

Shanghaisue · 16/06/2020 11:21

Currently halfway through 2 weeks of self isolation after exposure to a patient
with covid. He'd tested negative a couple of days earlier so we were wearing
surgical masks rather than full ppe. Initially we were told to come in unless we had symptoms Shock

Shanghaisue · 16/06/2020 11:23

Posted too early. I wonder whether poor swabbing technique had something to do with the initial negative result. It's a brief but slightly uncomfortable experience if done correctly.

Pickles89 · 16/06/2020 11:36

Of course stay off work! Nobody else wants your lurgy, covid or not!! Really hope you're over it soon.

Blankscreen · 16/06/2020 12:11

Get tested FFS.
If its positive then all your work colleagues now need to get tested too.

Your boss might find her work force needs to isolate which means she might re think the need for Ill people to go into work in the future.

Northernsoullover · 16/06/2020 12:14

OP is either really poorly, getting tested or in work 😕

annabel85 · 16/06/2020 12:57

@SoupDragon

It's unlikely that other bugs are going around at the moment

Yeah, because Covid has seen them all off like a wild animal protecting its territory.🙄

There'll be different viruses circulating but if people are following guidelines then they're far less likely to get them.

If you're a key worker then it can't be helped, if you must go to mass protests or raves and other things that go against guidelines then that's more circulation than all viruses, not just COVID.

dontgobaconmyheart · 16/06/2020 13:39

Really hope you didn't go into work OP, and are feeling ok. You have a social responsibility to get a covid test asap and self isolate with your household until it is clear. Taking time off to do this is not difficult and is more than allowed.

If you have it everyone you have seen NEEDS TO KNOW asap or you are contributing to the spread of this and potentially costing others their lives. Relative to following guidelines it is a bit of a no brainer and you should be resting anyway if you are this unwell or requesting a call from the GP.
