Woke up an hour before my alarm, my tongue is burning and my throat aches but worse of all, I am so, so nauseous ... I keep balking ... not actually been sick yet though, feel altogether shite.

No idea what it could be? I’m not normally Ill ... no chance of pregnancy 🤮 supposed to be at work today, without actual vomiting would it be unreasonable to call in sick? I feel like like I have the hangover from hell.

@aurynne, we're thought to be over 50K dead now.

worstwitch18 · 16/06/2020 07:18

DO NOT GO TO WORK

Your colleagues will not thank you, nor will anyone else you come in contact with. Get tested for COVID again with these new symptoms but even if that's negative stay isolated until you are better. There are other contagious, unpleasant illnesses out there.

Sorry you feel so rubbish and hope you get better soon. Flowers

Alittleshortforaspacepooper · 16/06/2020 07:23

problem is that we are expected to keep going in to work.

Yes, I understand that and it's really frustrating. I lived and worked in England for years and suffered through countless viruses that I picked up from the office because people were pressured into working when they were sick as dogs. People stumbling around sneezing and coughing were hailed as heroic. People who took sick days were talked about behind their backs.

Bloody ridiculous.

aurynne · 16/06/2020 07:25

@Bmidreams yes, and reading this thread it does not surprise me.

Literallyfedup · 16/06/2020 07:25

If you do suffer from hay fever then your current symptoms could be caused by post nasal drip. The mucus which collects at back of throat causes nausea specially in the morning. Post nasal drip can cause stab like throat pain and also irritate your nose and can cause inflammation/burning sensation on your tongue. It can also cause a white coating on the back of your tongue. Drink sips of water throughout the days, don't drink too much at one go else the mucus at back of your throat will make you nauseated further.
Get sterymar nasal spray from pharmacy and use it for 3 times a day. Your symptoms will ease down pretty quick.
Hope you feel better soon.

DrManhattan · 16/06/2020 07:27

Did you go to one of those raves at the weekend in leeds or Manchester? You might be feeling crap after that

namesnamesnamesnames · 16/06/2020 07:30

Obviously don't go in. I assumed people were taking their temperatures quite regularly and alert for symptoms. Clearly I'm wrong!

Hope you're better soon op.

MaggieFS · 16/06/2020 07:31

Well done for getting tested when you lost your sense of smell. Definitely do not go to work and get another test. This bloody virus is a strange bugger and the testing process tricky.

Travelledtheworld · 16/06/2020 07:34

Covid19 has a very wide range of symptoms.
Treat yourself as if you have it. Stay home in isolation.

SpecialchildSupermum · 16/06/2020 07:38

Just lost a dear friend to Covid. Only 52 and healthy. Has a wife and 4 beautiful kids. PLEASE STAY HOME!!!

QuestionMarkNow · 16/06/2020 07:39

Stay at home and self isolate for 14 days.
You were feeling hot yesterday (I’m assuming you haven’t taken your temp?) so I would assume fever. And possibly Covid.
You shouldn’t even have stayed at work yesterday.

QuestionMarkNow · 16/06/2020 07:41

Oh and in the mean time, I wouod have another test for Covid. It might have been negative then, but you dint know how it will be this time.

Soontobe60 · 16/06/2020 07:42

If you have been tested with these symptoms and it's negative, you've not got Covid.
I had a test yesterday morning as I have a new cough. I got the results back late last night and it doesn't tell me to get retested if the cough persists.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 16/06/2020 07:48

But she’s not getting retested because a cough persists. She got tested because she lost her dimes of smell. Her symptoms this time are different so now she needs another test.

butterpuffed · 16/06/2020 07:51

I didn’t know being physically sick was a symptom of COVID

My friend was tested because she lived with her daughter who had it. She was positive and her only symptom was constant diarrhoea for two weeks.

ScrapThatThen · 16/06/2020 07:52

You're really ill. Stay home. Stop other people getting it.

ImInYourMindFuzz · 16/06/2020 07:53

If you have been tested with these symptoms and it's negative, you've not got Covid
She tested negative “a couple of weeks ago” certainly enough time to come into contact and incubate the virus and present symptoms. She needs tested again. OP honestly stay home, het tested. If you’re not a habitual piss taker with illness your work will be fine.

Twinklelittlestar1 · 16/06/2020 07:53

I lived and worked in England for years and suffered through countless viruses that I picked up from the office because people were pressured into working when they were sick as dogs. So so depressingly true and it's only lately I've begun to acknowledge the ridiculousness of this. Perhaps it's one of the contributing factors as to why our cases are so high

IKEA888 · 16/06/2020 07:54

Testing negative a couple of weeks ago means zilch.
Hope you feel better soon.
Sounds like a virus !
Please don't go to work. I would kill you if you were a colleague!

Northernsoullover · 16/06/2020 07:55

Will people please stop saying its hayfever on these threads? It might indeed be hayfever. It might be Covid-19. We don't know. The symptoms are so varied. My friend who is a nurse had gastric symptoms and palpitations. She tested positive despite her symptoms not being typical.
Definitely don't go into work and stay off for 7 days even if you test negative again.
What is the nature of your work OP?

whenwillthemadnessend · 16/06/2020 07:55

Get tested today. My dd had the same symptoms. Cough didn't develop till a week later. She started with sore throat and fever. Aching muscles.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 16/06/2020 07:56

@SquishyBones I started vomiting, then blinding headache, sore throat, cough, grand finale was blisters and welts on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet. Swab came back negative 🙄 spoke to doctors yesterday to see if I could have some for the rash , 2 doctors after seeing the photos I emailed to them said I have a false negative and to treat as covid.
I spent nearly 3 months in full ppe. Washed hands. Wore a face mask out right at the start after seeing my pay drop like flies. It still bit me on the arse. Feel slightly better today, some shortness of breath but Christ the itching.
Rest up, and yes self isolate just in case

minisoksmakehardwork · 16/06/2020 07:59

Go and get tested. My parents were ill, got a bit better and then got worse. We lost mother just 3 weeks after first feeling ill.

It might not be covid but it might be and a negative test might be because you didn't have it at the time, it was done too soon in your bout of illness. Any number of reasons. Stay home, with the bounds of getting tested. Hope you feel better soon.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 16/06/2020 07:59

Bloody typos 🙄

Mirrorsin · 16/06/2020 07:59

For the posters saying it's probably just something else, the whole point of the (fairly shambolic) self isolate/test system, is that symptoms of the virus are similar to other bugs, but even if you have it mildly you risk passing it on to people who may not be so lucky.
It's not up to us to decide whether we think we have it or not, but to isolate and test if we show any of the symptoms (OP said she felt hot yesterday, so likely a temperature)
