Neighbours and Weed

NC.

We had new neighbours move in about a month ago. Very young couple, 22 max, 2 kids. It's their first house, he works shifts, and you can tell they're still finding their way in life. Ok to chat to. That's the good bits.

They are very vocal, argue a lot, the kids are screaming around 18 hours of the day. We are already pretty fed up with them but keep reminding ourselves that these are strange times and it may get better after lockdown. We're also both quite avoidant to confrontation.

They quite obviously smoke weed, and a lot of it. The man put a chair half way down our garden to smoke it during the day (facing towards our decking / seating area which was previously quite private), but at night smokes indoors. The smell is permeating through our walls and into our house (we're both mid terrace). I used to smoke weed and am fairly non judgemental about it, but my house fucking stinks. Plus knowing they have a toddler and a baby indoors, it makes me very uneasy.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? DP has offered to have a quite chat which I hope will help, but I'm not sure. I think we should report to SS due to the children, DP concerned that they will immediately know it's us and could lash out.

I suffer quite badly from anxiety and am often torn about what to do in difficult situations, hence reaching out to MN. If anyone has been in a similar situation would be keen to hear your solutions.

Insulin?! Grin what are you chatting about, are you high right now? Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas that allows your body to use sugar (glucose) from carbohydrates in the food that you eat for energy or to store glucose for future use.

Oestrogen is rather good for brains too !

As recreational marijuana use becomes legalized throughout the US, many people now wonder howmarijuanaaffects the brain and whether or not it kills brain cells.

It's hard not to wonder about the thought processes of people who think this is necessary for one of the first plants mankind chose to cultivate and domesticate - over 8000 years ago. Maybe we need some studies into wheat, barley and peas too ?

Wherever we poke back in history, we discover stoners:

Like any drug it literally kills brain cells.

Hence my question about what you considered as a drug for the purposes of that broad statement.

Not sure why you're derailing from the purpose of the thread too much but to get back to the point: Whilst being in charge of children, it's stupid dangerous and negligent to be under the influence of such a drug. Quite simple.

As you are on quite cordial terms with your neighbours, could you not suggest that he goes further down the garden to smoke and not face your house; you could also mention that him smoking it indoors causes your house to smell of it. It's possible he thinks nobody knows and he might be more careful. It's worth a try.

Just come across this thread so wanted to add.. we have had the same problem for the past year (finally moving this weekend, yay!).
40ish guy and his younger brother live together, state of house and garden leave A LOT to be desired, bin overflowing for months, dog faeces everywhere and the place absolutely reeks of weed.
As soon as they open their front door one can smell the weed and then
also same when they're in the back.
Morning and evening.
Guy has his young kids around too.
Living in a terraced house , it definitely does permeate the walls and through any cracks so my house tends to smell of weed quite often.
I have dabbled in my younger days and this is not the weed I know - their weed smells very particularly unpleasant .. cloying fermented sand and sawdust pub floor comes to mind!
Quite sure they have no idea how much it stinks.
Nice enough couple of guys, but the older one does get extremely loud at times, effing and blinding at his kids.
He also receives random 'guests'.... ah hem.

Looking for Advice: Antisocial Neighbors Causing Issues

Hi everyone,

I’m really struggling with my neighbour's and could use some advice. They’ve been smoking cannabis constantly, and the smell keeps coming into my home and garden.

It gets worse—they’re always swearing loudly, and there are often kids around, including their own, who are smoking it too. It’s awful to see, and I’m really worried about the example this is setting for young people, not to mention the health risks for everyone involved.especially since there is a toddler there.

On top of all that, there’s banging at odd hours. Any advice on who to contact in these matters?

If anyone has dealt with anything like this or has advice I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
