For me, I realise after weeks in lockdown that I spent a fortune on kids clothes that they never wore, way too much and getting on fine with no new purchases!
Also, spent a fortune on make up and skin care that o am still using, makes me think I was living in a world where there was so much excessive expenditure on material thanks I did not need, will be mindful in future!

@blue25

People really should be thinking twice about mindless consumerism. We waste so much money on crap and create huge environmental problems.

I really hope this lockdown has made more people realise how wasteful they are. It certainly has me. I’m sorry for those who lose jobs etc. but I’m not going to spend my money on crap just to keep companies afloat.

This.

Haven't been to Aldi or a big supermarket since mid March. Local farm shops and butcher kept me going when I was self isolating and couldn't get deliveries from the supermarkets. I have continued to do all my food shopping with them with occasional top ups from a mini co-op. I can't see me supporting the big supermarkets again. It's saved a lot of money and food waste.

Growing my own veg which is very satisfying.

Hopefully this will have put paid to spending for spending's sake. Also not buying from Chinese companies on Amazon when I can get what I really need to buy from local/small businesses. Blue25 is so right - not spending on crap to keep companies afloat.

My dc will probably do fewer organised activities. I do hope their tap dancing class reopens though.
