AIBU to think he's being really stupid?

Well no but 🤷🏻‍♀️

His lookout really.

londongirl12 · 13/06/2020 19:58

I think Italy is safer than here at the moment!

GreyGardens88 · 13/06/2020 19:59

Good for him IMO

ilikeitwhenshegoesbabababababa · 13/06/2020 19:59

It's more around the fact that as it's advised against by FCO, if he has any problems he's a bit stuck isn't he? No travel insurance will be valid, and I don't mean just for if he gets COVID, for example

I'd like to fly someone lovely and calm by the sea with no Corona, riots or issues... I'll come back when it's over.

Good food, a few nice people dotted around and a gorgeous guy for company

ilikeitwhenshegoesbabababababa · 13/06/2020 20:50

I know, me too

His EHIC will cover medical issues though

londongirl12 · 13/06/2020 21:58

Although at the moment the government advices only essential travel, I'm sure it won't be long before they relax that. Especially if holiday companies are starting up again

Lunar567 · 13/06/2020 22:00

Everything is opened in Italy.
He will have a good time.

Ylvamoon · 13/06/2020 22:04

Why not? He got the flights so it's legal. I'm sure he has a great time ... and enough holidays for the 2 weeks quarantine.

I'd go and see family abroad if I could find flights (very beautiful touristy area.) But I have gone back to work and we can't take holiday until mid August/ September... longing for a change of scenery

pandafunfactory · 13/06/2020 22:06

Seems fine to me. Good luck to him.

Thatisme · 13/06/2020 22:06

Italy is safer than here. Good on him!

Jaxhog · 13/06/2020 22:08

As long as he quarantines for 14 days when he gets back. Will he?

NoHardSell · 13/06/2020 22:19

Good for him.

notimagain · 13/06/2020 22:20

TBH we are getting to the point where HMG/FCO needs to pee or get off the pot...their advice is all over the place.....(shades of the volcanic ash debacle where they were too scared of their own shadows to relax rules on flights) )

The travel industry needs to survive, people want to travel... as long as the OP's relative complies with the regulations as both ends ( which ATM includes a 14 day quarantine on return to the UK ) I don't see the problem.

thewinkingprawn · 13/06/2020 22:22

Good on him. He’ll be absolutely fine. Everyone knows quarantine is absolutely ludicrous too. There is no rule to say he can’t go. It’s only advice.

LellyMcKelly · 13/06/2020 22:23

He’s way safer over there. I’d be over myself given half a chance. Imagine having a glass of chianti and some antipasti, relaxing at a cafe table in a piazza. Why wouldn’t you? He can self isolate when he gets back. Totally worth it.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/06/2020 22:25

I'd be on a plane tomorrow if I could afford to quarantine for 2 weeks when I got back.

tara66 · 13/06/2020 22:31

I think Italy has opened up to European (including Brit.) travellers.

halcyondays · 13/06/2020 23:31

Yanbu

LEELULUMPKIN · 13/06/2020 23:39

Wish I was him

SD1978 · 14/06/2020 00:04

As long as he plans to self isolate when he comes back- I don't see an issue. Life needs to restart, and if he's doing it sensibly and with all the right information, then I say go for it.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/06/2020 00:13

They've just locked down part of Rome again

doodleygirl · 14/06/2020 00:16

Does it effect you? If not I don’t see why you are annoyed.

maddy68 · 14/06/2020 00:24

Good for him.
