Scrabble RAGE

Hasbro have switched developers on their scrabble app and the new version is an infantile, Las Vegas style abomination which has ruined the simple traditional scrabble game.

They have literally thrown their players under a bus, in the pursuit of monetising the game with gimmicks to attract a younger audience and encourage in app purchasing along with £4.99 a month if you don't want to be bombarded with ads at every turn. The garish colours and flashing bits are migraine inducing.

Many many complaints on their app review regarding how their older players who connect with family members just cannot cope and now cannot play. I play a friend the other side of the world and we feel bereft and enraged and both deleted the new version in protest.

Have they updated the words allowed as well? Try spelling yolo and see what happens?

YANBU I hate when they change stuff that works perfectly well!

You could try words with friends, that's basically the same thing, although it also has some 'bonus' features and adverts it's not too bright/flashy.

Been playing for years on it. £12 a year. No gimmicks so suitable for dinosaurs like me.

I'm so gutted as well barbedwired - it was my favourite game and it was perfect as it was. Why did they have to ruin it. I also feel for the older players as the new version is too confusing. Is there anything we can do?

Pannacotta, my friend and I are trying out other apps similar but the EA version was perfect, traditional and calm gameplay.

Not sure anything can be done, large amounts of money will have changed hands. I paid an initial amount to download the original app and if asked I would have paid an annual sub to keep that

Is this the Scrabble Go app?

I have it and there are some ads but not so many it makes it unplayable. If you want a free product then you need to put up with them.

I like the app, I connect with my family and enjoy all the side games.

Does anyone find the scrabble go app lags sometimes and freezes their phone?

I play on my PC, not sure if it works on phones but I play on word biz, www.isc.ro it's free.

I play words with friends. No ads, black background, all pleasingly grown up

We've started playing word feud, seems ok, at least it's not like scant crush version of scrabble.!
