I keep thinking I can't be more appalled by our media and our misogynistic society.... and then....

From the Mail -
Extraordinarily, he added: ‘I slapped her, but I didn’t abuse her.’ It came as Miss Rowling suffered a major backlash over her decision to go public on her views about transgender issues, which she said was influenced by her own experience of domestic violence and a serious sexual assault as a young woman

A parade of Harry Potter stars – who all owe their Hollywood careers to Miss Rowling – lined up to put the boot in, rejecting her concerns about transgender issues.

Sparklesocks · 12/06/2020 00:15

Gross. That’s awful.
But it’s exactly what I expect from The Sun. It’s a shameless rag.

NewAccountForCorona · 12/06/2020 00:22

I feel sorry for his kids.Imagine having such an absolute shite for a father, and having it all over the papers.

I stand with JKR - I think she's fantastic.

MitziK · 12/06/2020 00:22

Well, the comments section of the DM is actually coming out in favour of her. Other than a handful of idiots (all with male names), every single one is pretty much saying he's an abuser/dickhead/twat/scumbag.

I haven't looked on Twitter. That might be illuminating.

Lined up to put the boot in? Because disagreeing with her is putting the boot in?

NewAccountForCorona · 12/06/2020 00:24

Also, the "parade of Harry Potter stars" have obviously not read what she actually said, just what twitter says she said.

It's hard to see how anyone who actually reads what she writes could disagree.

notangelinajolie · 12/06/2020 00:27

YANBU
Say what you like about The Sun but I would say that they have
just got him to admit he did it.

Rockbird · 12/06/2020 00:29

It's a shitrag. Always has been. And nice for their daughter to have it splashed across the national 'press' too.

colouringindoors · 12/06/2020 00:31

that's good to hear Mitzik

Have you only just noticed that the s*n is vile?

Gingerkittykat · 12/06/2020 00:36

Don't forget to complain about the Daily Fail too.

OvaHere · 12/06/2020 00:36

This is the front page. It's vile.

FliesandPies · 12/06/2020 00:37

Because disagreeing with her is putting the boot in?

Because publicly apologising on her behalf, and publicly telling her she is wrong to believe what she believes is putting the boot in. Or stabbing her in the back if you prefer?

FliesandPies · 12/06/2020 00:39

Above the headline it says 'Sick Taunt of Rowling's Violent Ex'

I detest the Sun but I don't agree that this is an attack on JKR

PickAChew · 12/06/2020 00:44

Well he's not positively promoted himself to me. Comes across as a rather odious wank stain.

Happymum12345 · 12/06/2020 00:47

Just the way he is leaning on her makes me feel uncomfortable let alone anything else.

Well, if ‘misgendering’ is thought by certain people to be literal murder, then slabbering about the women who helped you become well known and wealthy, is definitely putting the boot in.
stella47 · 12/06/2020 00:50

And really fucking fuck Owen Jones - after all his disgusting abusive misogynistic comments belittling abuse, he now says this. He's a horrific hypocritical shiteweasel.

Pugdoglife · 12/06/2020 00:53

So suddenly it's ok to "only slap" your partner? Since when had violence ever been ok?

Deadringer · 12/06/2020 00:56

Strangely the irish sun have written an article with lots of tweets slating Emma Watson, seemingly in support of jkr.

WeirdAndPissedOff · 12/06/2020 01:00

Well, I suppose all the people wanting to punch her now have a figurehead for solidarity.
I would say it's a positive thing- he's admitted what he's done for all to see, and inadvertently backed up what she has said.

But I agree he shouldn't be given a platdorm, and it also depends on Rowling's feelings on it. (Not that I imagine she was consulted). To have your abuser on the front page casually saying they hit you and don't regret it - it's quite chilling, and I can't imagine how it might make her feel.

user1473878824 · 12/06/2020 01:09

“ So suddenly it's ok to "only slap" your partner?“ that’s not what the headline is saying. It’s saying the absolute opposite. Jesus Christ.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 12/06/2020 01:11

Ugh. He ounds like an utter arsehole.
The Sun's always given head space to arseholes though.
I used to buy it daily until I wised up and realised it's poison.

Maybe theyre trying to be pro GC sneakily by being offensive? So people will be outraged and side with JKR? Istandwithjkr btw. Just trying to understand this paper
Just seen this - you know what? Think you might be right

I agree with this, but he hadn’t been given a platform, he’s been given enough rope to hand himself. And she’s been in the public eye for what twenty years? She’s not stupid. It was bound to be talked about and I’m sure she knew people would question him.

He’s made it clear what a bastard he is. There are so meant threads on here when being able to google and date’s name and have what is a damning rather than accepting headline could have stopped it all.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 12/06/2020 01:15

Oh give over! You put your opinion out there, expect to have it challenged or disagreed with - which is exactly what they (Harry Potter stars) did! They weren't abusive. Just disagreed. Like people are allowed to do,
