Getting rid of baby clothes...

Merryoldgoat · 10/06/2020 20:50

I’m getting rid of a lot of clothes my sons have grown out of.

There’s quite a lot. I’m giving it away for free. Would you expect it to be washed?

YABU - wash the clothes you lazy bint
YANBU - they’ll wash them anyway - don’t bother

I would wash them if they're dirty.

If they were packed away clean, I wouldn't wash them again just to freshen them up.

Are they just coming out of drawers that they were put into clean after washing? If so I wouldn't bother.

22Giraffes · 10/06/2020 20:59

I would wash them before I gave them away but then if I was receiving clothes I would wash them again so I don't know how to answer really. Totally unhelpful I know, sorry 🤦‍♀️

They were in vacuum bags, had been washed but have a kind of ‘washing up liquid’ smell which I assume is the bag.

Right. I’ll wash them and say I have and pack them nicely so hopefully save someone a job.

I could probably sell them but I’d rather give them away and it’s nice if things look nice when you get them.

If they were in vacuum bags don't bother; whoever picks them up will 100% wash them again anyway.

If the clothes were clean going into the cupboard I don't wash them if I give them to someone. I've given loads of bits away and usually say something like oh they've been in storage so might need a freshen up. Tbh I wash everything before I put a baby into it and I assume other people are the same (and if not the clothes are technically clean!). I have far to much laundry to do that the taught of washing all the baby stuff just so the person I'm giving them to will wash them again makes me cry in the inside!

*thought 🤦‍♀️

Cheesypea · 10/06/2020 21:12

If theyve been put away clean you wont need to re wash them.

Merryoldgoat · 10/06/2020 22:25

They smell a bit chemically. I think I will wash them. If they are obviously freshly washed then maybe it will save them a job.

I wouldn't bother. They will probably wash them again. Or they may not care and just use them straight away. Either way it's a wasted wash.
