Aibu to think that trousers half way down the arse and boxers hanging out looks silly on a 34 year old man?
He says it's more comfortable but the more it hangs out the more I think he's more of a man child than a man ?!

He’s literally an arsehole. Sounds like you’re ready to move on? You will notice lots of things that confirm he’s a teenager and has arrested development.

Petlover9 · 11/06/2020 19:51

Some years ago I was in M/S and there was a chap walking round with his arse on display. I "found" some ice in the ice cream section and scooped up a few pieces, followed him and when he bent down/over to get something I dropped the ice down his crack and walked on. Observed his discomfort from the next section. Often wonder if he realised how offensive he looked, the moron

Jonoula · 11/06/2020 20:04

That’s just weird. Why are you all so bothered about what other people wear. Fashion is a form of free speech.

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 11/06/2020 20:14

@Eckhart I'm sorry, I can't take anyone seriously who uses the expression "End of" Confused

Wasn't that made popular by contestants on the Jeremy Kyle show?!

BeatrixPottersAlterEgo · 11/06/2020 20:15

YANBU IT'S DISGUSTING ON ANY AGE

BeatrixPottersAlterEgo · 11/06/2020 20:16

Ffs unintentional caps lock. Point still stands though

Eckhart · 11/06/2020 20:17

@Dougalthesyrianhamster No idea, never watched it. I can't take anybody seriously who uses emoticons.

FelicisNox · 11/06/2020 20:30

I'm not surprised it's putting you off him!

Just tell him straight:

  1. you're too old
  2. it's not even fashionable any more
  3. you look like a twat and it's totally unsexy

I literally wouldn't go near him until he makes it stop.

CherrySpritz · 11/06/2020 20:39

I think, with the OP, she’s just got ‘the ick’ and that can come from any old thing.

I don’t think she’s just got the ick. Neither does anyone else here besides you. It’s a bloody ridiculous look for any man, especially one of adult age.

Barney60 · 11/06/2020 21:35

Ask him if hes gay, he will ask why, then tell him where this trend came from and what it means.... I heard it started in a mens prison in America, it was a sign to their male lover that they were ready /available for a good seeing too!

PunishmentSnart · 11/06/2020 23:04

I love all the people saying OP is controlling.

I 100 % wouldn’t control what my DH wears, he’s an adult.

I am also an adult who can have an opinion to tell him he looks fucking stupid and it is not attractive to me whatsoever.

user1471565182 · 11/06/2020 23:11

Why is he actually doing it though? because it isnt comfier at all.

user1471565182 · 11/06/2020 23:26

Use this Tim Westwood soundboard to interupt him every time he talks until he gets changed

www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/westwood/soundboard.shtml

copperoliver · 11/06/2020 23:37

It looks dopey at any age x

Spanishcove · 11/06/2020 23:42

Get your oldest biggest holiest pair of pants, pull them up nice and high, and accompany your husband out in public wearing leggings worn pulled down to just under the buttocks so everyone can appreciate your beige M and S gangstapants credentials.

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 12/06/2020 00:06

Diversity makes the world go round! I’ve broken up with people for trying to make me change the way I dress (I’ve always been ‘alternative’, whatever you ascribe that to mean) so either you or he are free to do so. Life’s too short to be with the wrong person. People find different things attractive. Some people like the polo and chinos look, some like the sporty guy, some love a three piece suit and a bow tie. Gino Iannucci (be still my beating heart) and Tony Hawk—both pro skaters are still wearing baggy jeans at 46 and 52 respectively, and looking damn good at it!

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 12/06/2020 00:11

In my opinion. And that was in response to @CherrySpritz. I don’t mind if it’s ‘just me’ on here. I like what I like. Lots of my friends’ DHs are the same. It’s just part of a sub culture like any other.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 12/06/2020 01:19

Each to their own, but surely trousers that are deliberately baggy around the legs or the crotch are very different from trousers designed to sit on the waist (as trousers traditionally are) but which are nevertheless being worn with the waist under the bottom?

If skaters wore their trousers this way, they would inevitably fall all the way down to their ankles in no time at all, mid-activity, seriously restrict their movement and likely lead to injuries.

Apart from looking ridiculous and being highly impractical, actively choosing to waddle around in public with your trousers around your ankles sounds more like an attention-seeking fetish to me than a personal style alternative.

Bluntness100 · 12/06/2020 07:32

if he told you yoga pants should not be seen on anyone over the age of 25 and a size 8 as nobody likes to see a camels toe

Yoga pants don’t give you a camels toe unless they are hoiked up too high or too small for you, and it’s not related to age or size,,and no one does like to see a camel toe. It’s not a good look. Just like the equivalent outline of male genitalia isn’t a good look, So I don’t think the responses would be different.

ppeatfruit · 12/06/2020 10:11

Jonoula I don't agree that MOST fashion is a form of free speech. It's mainly due to huge manufacturers having to sell their badly made clothes\shoes from cheap materials (by exploiting the earth and the workers).

They deliberately heavily publicise the stuff every effing 'season' so that some people feel awkward, wearing the 'wrong' colour or whatever. Thank goodness we're waking up to the damage that's being done by fast fashion. I used to work in fashion and I effing hate it.

Stupid arse showing trousers are just bonkers but at least they aren't fashionable in that sense.

bemusedmoose · 12/06/2020 13:08

It looks ridiculous on anyone.

It was also the look invented by men in prison to show they were available for sex with other inmates. Which always makes me giggle when I see guys acting like a gangster with their butt hanging out.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 12/06/2020 13:52

Whats the actual point of buying trousers at all if the top section isn't required, as the wearer prefers to publicly display his pants rather than cover that area of the body with denim or cotton or whatever?

If he only wants to cover his legs and make do with his boxers or Calvins for the bum/crotch area, why not just buy some thigh-high thermal hold-ups? Oh, I've just realised: because that would look ridiculous!!!

AlphaDalpha · 12/06/2020 13:59

I dated someone who had the opposite problem with his jeans and whilst he was lovely, it never progressed beyond a couple of dates as all his jeans just looked too uncomfortable pulled that high.

Husband had a very normal attitude to jean placement thankfully.

Eckhart · 12/06/2020 14:24

why not just buy some thigh-high thermal hold-ups

Very entertaining mental image, @WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 12/06/2020 14:26

Is this him?

To think he is too old to do this ??
