Aibu to think that trousers half way down the arse and boxers hanging out looks silly on a 34 year old man?
He says it's more comfortable but the more it hangs out the more I think he's more of a man child than a man ?!

My DH and my DB both still wear their jeans like this in their mid-/late-30s, but they were (are!) skaters.

M C Hammer trousers are their friend or, if they're too difficult to source, a fisherman's gansey but worn on the bottom half Grin

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 10/06/2020 21:05

Grin I shan’t mention the MC Hammer trousers to my DH, he likes to wear attention grabbing prints at the best of times so I dread to think what he’d come up with!

All I meant about the tucked-in thing is that it’s horses for courses. What I like is different to what others like. DH and I both heavily tattooed and he has stretched ears etc. I’m not particularly attracted to the ‘preppy’ or ‘sporty’ look. I’ve seen my DH in a suit a grand total of twice! I like the way my DH dresses, but it doesn’t mean anyone else has to! I think, with the OP, she’s just got ‘the ick’ and that can come from any old thing. It’s definitely happened to me before. Once you notice whatever it is, it just can’t be unnoticed! 😂

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 10/06/2020 21:07

My Dad has never met a shirt he hasn’t tucked in. Not even the top of his pyjamas... 😂

ppeatfruit · 11/06/2020 09:37

Yes Lilian Thanks Grin Brilliant Grin

ppeatfruit · 11/06/2020 09:40

Incorrigible Good for your Dad, (I hate my pyjamas riding up in bed) Grin

Shell4429 · 11/06/2020 17:42

It’s a fashion first adopted by American youths, whose ancestors went to prison and had their belts removed for safety. It was something to do with racial inequality.

CowgirlBride · 11/06/2020 17:56

DSS (13) does this - we’re always telling him to pull his trousers up as we both think it looks awful.

Tee22 · 11/06/2020 17:56

Maybe try warning him like I warned my teenage sons...I told them that once they started wearing their trousers like that then I would too! Particularly when they had mates round!

Greenmandm · 11/06/2020 18:04

@LunaHardy
Hahaha I heard that too. That's what it is. And it looks disgusting anyway at any age

CallmeBadJanet · 11/06/2020 18:06

Oops! I read that as a "3 to 4 year old man". Maybe that's the problem Hmm

Tessabelle1 · 11/06/2020 18:22

He'd be on the way to Dumpsville for me. I won't even leave my house with my husband if he wears his baseball as I think they look ridiculous too!

winkywonky · 11/06/2020 18:26

I disagree OP. If he has always worn them like that and you met him like that it's wrong for you to force him to change. People ridiculing him on here is just a bit mean. Mumsnetters would be the first to be outraged if he told you yoga pants should not be seen on anyone over the age of 25 and a size 8 as nobody likes to see a camels toe! He would be classed as an ageist, sexist pig. I don't really see the difference.

Divebar · 11/06/2020 18:31

Well it’s fair enough if you don’t like something but I sure as shit wouldn’t be told by someone else that was I was wearing was inappropriate or disgusting. Tough shit. We’re grown ups.... wear what the heck you like.

Harls1969 · 11/06/2020 18:33

I'd definitely be alternating between giving him a wedgie and pantsing him. He needs one of his mates to tell him he looks fucking ridiculous

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 11/06/2020 18:58

It just looks like somebody has somehow reached the age of 34 without yet learning how to operate a pair of trousers. If he's happy with people thinking that and pitying him (or laughing at him), I suppose it's his choice.

Wilkie1956mog · 11/06/2020 19:04

It's horrible and ridiculous looking. I'd be embarrassed for him. Tell him people will laugh at him, and refuse to be seen with him like that. Even as a teenage fashion thing it's years out of date.

Cherrysoup · 11/06/2020 19:09

Revolting. I would refuse to be seen with him til he grew the fuck up.

Choccylips · 11/06/2020 19:20

This trend started in American prisons to let some of the men know they were available. It appears to be used over here as a fashion statement, be it the most awful one Iv'e ever seen they look like they have filled their pants.

roxanne119 · 11/06/2020 19:21

It has association of prison but this was because belts were taken away from man serving time so half right there Lunahardy 🤭 but hate this fashion !

Angrywife · 11/06/2020 19:23

Hide all of his underwear, then he can either flash his bare backside to the world or your lacy knickers!

Cockadoodledooo · 11/06/2020 19:29

@PigletJohn an arse hanging out in front of Number 10? Surely not 🤔

DamnYankee · 11/06/2020 19:34

I was a high school teacher at the time this was popular.

I can't tell you how many times a young man, rushing to beat the bell, got tripped up because his pants slipped down and bound up his knees. Books were in arms, of course, so usually there was an epic face plant. One unfortunate student actually chipped a tooth that way.

Tell your DH it is outdated and not attractive to Any.Woman.Ever.

WinWinnieTheWay · 11/06/2020 19:35

It's not a good look on anyone.

WinWinnieTheWay · 11/06/2020 19:36

Not even 1990's Marky Marc

Thelittleweasel · 11/06/2020 19:47

A belt is a novel idea!
