What would you think if two children of a household both grew up to have personality disorders? The only thing in common is their shared childhood.

I agree with janeskettle here, Rumbletumbleinmytummy. Maybe there were some genetic factors that predisposed you to a personality disorder (I don't think that is a very helpful term but that's for another thread). But it is much more likely that your difficulties were triggered by your childhood. I can only imagine how much worse they feel when other members of your family deny they happened. I am glad you have had some help from professionals.

All the people I know with PD's suffered trauma and abuse. Trauma when young rewires your brain and means you are much more susceptible to MH issues.
