Posting here for traffic.
The past two weeks I have been in intense pain in my head, it feels like it’s burning and it won’t stop. I have seen my gp, my physio and earlier this week was taken to A&E because I passed out in the car (I was a passenger) and was unconscious for 15 minutes - I came too choking on the seatbelt. I have had a head CT and that came back clear my drs have now said they will review my case and see if I need referring to a specialist at the hospital. Now I come to my mistake, I was prescribed amitriptyline and diazepam for the pain, they told me not to mix it with alcohol but I’m in so much pain I can’t sleep, I can’t concentrate, I can’t function. Do tonight I have taken my amitriptyline, 2 diazepam tablets and had 2 spirit drinks. I can feel it working already but now I’m scared, I just wanted to sleep but I already have a low heart rate due to a medical condition and I’m worried. I’m sorry I just needed to tell someone.

Hi - I noticed your post about frequent dislocations, have you had investigations for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and associated conditions? I think there is a link between EDS and issues with the head and spine (Chiari malformation rings a bell) - please do not take what I’m saying as gospel though, I’m just recalling from memory x

  • OP chose to do something that risked her life and you're all saying it's healthy and safe behaviour - you are bad people for acting like OP should do the same thing again. I am expressing ZERO judgement but that it NOT ok behaviour.*

Nobody said it was healthy, but people have been driven to it, me included more than once.

Nobody said she should do the same again, just said they understood why. I certainly understand it, I live with severe pain daily and have done for years.

If this makes me a bad person in your eyes, then so what, no sleep will be lost.

OP, the way I was diagnosed in the end was to go to A&E. In the specific situation I had, my GP wasn't any use and I was fobbed off. I know you've already been, but I would go again, you shouldn't have to live like this.

Lockeduporknockedup · 07/06/2020 12:15

I literally never said OP was a bad person. I said the exact opposite. If you want to flat-out make up and pretend that I've said something unreasonable then I can't change that.
If OP was driven to this once and absolutely nothing has changed then what makes you think OP won't do it again? By saying that OP clearly doesn't need help or support and did a perfectly normal thing, it's implying that doing it again is a normal thing too. If she does it again and dies then at least I'll know I said something to try to stop that happening.
Like I've said already. I have zero judgement here. I do not think OP is a "bad person" at all nor have I ever implied that she is. What I have said is that medicating with alcohol is dangerous and that OP should not do it. There are organisation who help people do not medicate with alcohol. Those organisations save lives.

@bananaontoast1 I haven’t, I dislocated or sublux every other week pretty much. My physio has now asked my gp to investigate both the head pain and my dislocations to see if there is underlying. My best friend has EDS so it has crossed my mind. I have been to A&E where they took a CT but couldn’t find anything.

@PierceHawthornesSexDungeon thank you for your kind words, concern and support. I’m so tired and knowing I have someone in my corner is really helping so thank you.

Last night was bad again, I didn’t drink but my doctor said I could up my doses so took the Max because the pain has spread. My right cheek/jaw was so painful, right side of my face swelled and is still slightly swollen.

May be a stupid question, but go with me on it. What happens if you brush your fingers over your cheek, does the pain become a lot more intense?

Also interesting that you say right side, TN is generally always the right side, or so I was told at hospital.

Lockeduporknockedup · 07/06/2020 18:02

My conscious is clear here. I tried my best. I'm bowing out now. This thread is genuinely terrifying.

Canyouhelpme · 07/06/2020 20:07

@PhilCornwall1 it’s not more painful when I brush it now although the pain has mostly subsided there now and it’s only a bit swollen still.

@Canyouhelpme it's probably a good idea to keep a diary of your pain and any identifiable triggers for when you see your GP

HarryElephante · 07/06/2020 22:38

You've had a CT scan, plus the results in two weeks?

Canyouhelpme · 08/06/2020 00:20

@HarryElephante I was in A&E so I had the head CT and got the results whilst I was there so in around 2 hours. @PierceHawthornesSexDungeon thank you that’s a good idea.

Another bad pain day today, it’s affecting my work now. I ended up going to bed at 16:00 and sleeping until 19:30. I work from 7:30/8am - 4:30/5pm most days, I’m doing this from home atm and I was able to do this today but I have meetings in the afternoons on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and I have calls in the morning so I’m stuck if the pain gets bad again. Pain killers can help but I find they make me disoriented in the day so it’s difficult to stay focused and sound professional for my job. Just fed up.

I know this is a zombie thread but I was wondering if you ever got to the bottom of your pain, OP? How are you now? If you're still around that is.
