“Equal justice under the law must mean every American receives equal treatment in every encounter with law enforcement regardless of race, color, gender or creed. They have to receive fair treatment from law enforcement.”
The president then appeared to veer from his prepared remarks, saying, “We all saw what happened last week. We can’t let that happen. Hopefully George is looking down right now and saying, ‘This is a great thing that’s happening for our country.’ This is a great day for him. It’s a great day for everbody. This is a great day for everybody. This a great, great day in terms of equality.”

The words of this truly evil, manipulative and callous man to a wash of poorly educated people who lap up his utter crap should be spread far and wide around the world and we should urge our governments to speak out loudly against this racist, ignorant man. People may have thought is presidency funny or somewhat amusing but he has gone too time and again and now he crosses a line.

This deliberate ignorance and nastiness is used to provoke us further, so he can send in the army within his country and urge more incidents of prejudice here in the U.K.

@iwantmysay why is it "faux" outrage? Its f**kuing real outrage! And I have the very same outrage against "our" leader - who I definitely did NOT vote in thank you very much.

Clavinova · 05/06/2020 20:11

Possibly disingenuous reporting by the media or just a garbled speech by Trump -

"While the event was framed as a celebration of the surprisingly positive jobs numbers, which showed a drop in the unemployment rate, it is unclear what exactly Trump was referring to. Directly before Trump's reference to Floyd, he was talking about "equal treatment under the law" but the broader context for the event was the jobs report."

"Trump campaign spokesperson Tim Murtaugh said on Twitter "the President was obviously speaking of the idea that Americans are coming together to call for equal treatment under the law."

"Before his reference to Floyd, Trump said "equal justice under the law must mean that every American receives equal treatment in every encounter with law enforcement, regardless of race, color, gender, creed—they have to receive fair treatment from law enforcement, they have to receive it. We all saw what happened last week. We can't let that happen."

He’s a fucking monster

PerkingFaintly · 05/06/2020 20:14

So much Trump-splaining.

If, every time someone opens their gob, their acolytes have to rush around saying, "What he really meant was...", there comes a time when you just have to accept that what the person really meant was... what they actually said.

The banana really is just a banana.

FloggingMoll · 05/06/2020 20:15

Come on @Clavinova, disingenuous? Really? Are you really putting down any sort of defence for that racist scumbag?

DavetheCat2001 · 05/06/2020 20:15

When someone shows you who they are, for god's sake believe them

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/06/2020 20:16

Radio 4 mentioned the George looking down thing after he had made remarks about the unemployment figures/economic stuff

Ah, well at least that adds context to why George is supposed to feel pleased - I don't agree at all, but at least it explains what he was drivelling on about

And whatever we all think of this horror, could we please avoid "prayers for assassination"? Because IMO that says a great deal more about the person posting than the one they're posting about

DrDavidBanner · 05/06/2020 20:17

@pigsDOfly

When you listen to this sort of thing from him it's sometimes hard to believe that you're actually hearing what your brain is telling you you're hearing.

He has no filter, no sense of what it's not appropriate to say. His thoughts and his mouth seem to be completely out of control.

No normal person would even think this sort of thought, let alone give voice to the words.

There is something seriously amiss with him.

And then after his unbelievably crass remarks about George Floyd he then goes on to praise himself for having done more for equality than any other american president.

All of this, I can't believe the brass neck of the guy. I watched in absolute disbelief. How dare he?

I fear for America if he is re-elected but I fear it could be possible.

FliesandPies · 05/06/2020 20:20

Surely there's some clause that allows for removal of a President if he's lost his mind??

BlackBucketOfCheese · 05/06/2020 20:22

My problem is, what changed under Obama?

You expect a black man to change the face of 400 years of racism in 8 years?

FuckThisWind · 05/06/2020 20:22

I have no idea what it will take to finally get rid of Trump. If America vote him back in after all of this, then I truly despair. I have shed so many tears this week. I so want to stand united with Georges family, friends, and anyone affected by this. I really want to support those who are from the Black community. I want to use the right words. But they never seem to come out right. I mean it. I feel it. But I obviously cannot truly understand how it must feel to be a black person who is persecuted for their skin colour. I despise white privilege. I HATE those white men who become police officers solely to exert 'authority' over those who they see as a lower class. I am disgusted with it. Anything I can do to show my support, I will. But I feel helpless, other than to say I stand united with black people and I support you. I treasure your frellowship. And your life BLOODY matters!

Imonaplane · 05/06/2020 20:22

@SimonJT

He is an actual cunt.

He is a racist, sexist, homophobic, rapist pig.

This^

Trump's words have really upset me. What a bastard.

Sharpandshineyteeth · 05/06/2020 20:23

I actually can’t stand reading or hearing about trump. I have not really realised the reason behind this before apart from the obvious but now I know it’s because I feel helpless. There is nothing I can do and there is nothing that anybody is doing to stop his hateful and devastating influence

pigsDOfly · 05/06/2020 20:25

We voted for a similar man, why the faux outrage?

I sure as hell didn't vote for that clown in number 10. And my outrage at Trump, and Johnson come to that, is most definitely not 'faux'.

iklboo · 05/06/2020 20:25

We voted for a similar man, why the faux outrage?

I absolutely didn't.

Soontobe60 · 05/06/2020 20:28

@SimonJT

He is an actual cunt.

He is a racist, sexist, homophobic, rapist pig.

This and so much more! Far too many Americans hang on to his every word though 😳
SimonJT · 05/06/2020 20:29

@BoingBoingyBoing

"I feel for the woman, I really do. Imagine being saddled with that excuse for a human being."

She could leave him. The fact that she so clearly hates him and yet doesn't means she is just as much a fucking arsehole as the man himself.

Do you think he would let her do that? God knows what he would do with their son if she did, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was never allowed to see him again.
Swiftsseason · 05/06/2020 20:30

400 years of racism and whilst inspiring, symbolic etc and everything that Obama and Michelle were, they didn't make a dent it seems.
No actual laws were changed.
Thought this was why many BAME communities voted in trump?

FuckThisWind · 05/06/2020 20:30

And I absolutely didn't vote for the similar right wing twat we are currently being governed by. I hope this is what we need for change. Although for God's sake it should not have taken a man to lose his life at the hands of a pathetic individual to make that change. We have to stand united and we have to vote these horrific bastards out.

Clavinova · 05/06/2020 20:30

FloggingMoll

I can't stand Trump myself - but there is video clip of what he actually says in the link - the CBS News clip.

"While some reporters quoted Trump’s comments verbatim, others immediately cast Trump’s reference to Floyd as part of his celebration of the positive economic outlook, rather than as a suggestion that Floyd would be pleased with the country’s progress toward a more equitable law enforcement environment."

www.nationalreview.com/news/mainstream-reporters-falsely-accuse-trump-of-suggesting-george-floyd-would-be-happy-about-jobs-numbers/

FuckThisWind · 05/06/2020 20:32

@Clavinova Fuck Off. You should be banned for this.

BlackBucketOfCheese · 05/06/2020 20:33

why the faux outrage?

Faux outrage? FAUX?
I am a black woman. My outrage is not faux believe me. The outrage of people who finally recognise their white privilege is not faux. The outrage of black people and POC is not faux.

The U.K. might have voted for another racist little thug but that doesn’t stop those of us who are against racists fighting against it.

And why now? Why NOT now? If this is what gets those with white privileged to sit the fuck up and listen to us about the reality of living a black life then NOW is the perfect time.

Now is NOT the time for your whataboutery and but but but you did this, you did that.
We are doing this now.

If you aren’t willing to fight the racists you are part of the problem. No ifs, ands or buts.

OP posts:
SimonJT · 05/06/2020 20:34

@iwantmysay

We voted for a similar man, why the faux outrage?
You may have voted for a racist, sexist homophobe, but I certainly didn’t.
FloggingMoll · 05/06/2020 20:35

@Clavinova I think when I saw it I took it as the latter; that he was claiming Floyd would be pleased about the economic success. But honestly, how fucking crass. I absolutely accept that you're presenting the absolute truth but whatever context he said it in, it was still gross.

mbosnz · 05/06/2020 20:35

How dare he fucking invoke George Floyd's name? Has he no goddamned shame? Poor Mr Floyd's wife and child, having to listen to this putrid shit.

He's the Puffer Fish of Politics.
