To think there is no other explanation other than I have a ghost in my house?

Home alone, was upstairs in the bathroom and heard a noise from downstairs.

Went to check it out and when I got to the kitchen, the tap on the sink had been turned on full blast!

Currently shitting myself after watching horror movie last night with DH and now being home alone until later on 😭

It's more likely the workings of the faucet are loose and the water pressure forced it to turn on. How old is the faucet?

Stampy84 · 04/06/2020 18:41

I would shit myself too..

However if anyone else has any spooky stories, I bloody love them!!
Sorry OP, probably the last thing you want to read is creepy stories 👀

Mrspimplepopper · 04/06/2020 18:44

Oooooo very woo indeed op. Please can we have a spooky thread please please Grin

SayBoooooo · 04/06/2020 18:50

It really isn't helping that the fucking film we watched last night was paranormal activity!

Sink isn't massively old, not new either though.

I'll post a picture of the tap, I'm not sure if it's one that can be forced on or not.

I suppose it could be forced on by the water pressure? It was on so high that it's splashed water all over the counter tops!

I am sure it was just a random build up of excessive pressure.

Lordfrontpaw · 04/06/2020 18:53

Seriously - if I were a ghost I’d do much more than turn a tap on. That hardly seems worth all the bother of travelling back from the astral plane now does it?

Stampy84 · 04/06/2020 18:53

I have one...

Had recently moved onto my house, along the stairs I had 3 pictures hanging. Was in the garden with my dad as there was a crash.. one of the pictures had come off the wall, no big deal right?
Only, not only had it come off the wall, but gone over the banister, into the first living room and somehow managed to turn a corner and land in the 2nd living room Right near the back door (has double doors so can be one big living room or 2 small ones)
That creeped me out, especially as it was a picture of my daughter, who was having mental health problems at the time.. I felt like it was a warning in a bizarre way, later found suicide notes hidden in her room.
She got the help she needs, and is doing fantastic now.
Probably just a coincidence and I’m sure there’s an explanation, but if not, then I’m very grateful to whoever wanted to bring her to my attention

Stampy84 · 04/06/2020 18:54

@Lordfrontpaw that made me laugh!

Thepilotlightsgoneout · 04/06/2020 19:00

Ghosts don’t exist so it’s not that.

Sparklesocks · 04/06/2020 19:05

This happened to us when the water company were doing work in the area and the pressure kept going up and down. You could hear all the pipes gurgling before. I wonder if they turned it off for a moment and then turned it back on causing a high pressure push.

I wonder if there’s a job opening for plumber-exorcists just to cover all bases? Maybe work a little demon expulsion into the final module of plumber training? Grin

I would have been really freaked out, especially after watching Paranormal Activity

Once when dh and I were dating, we had a horror film marathon in my apartment. All was fine until 3am when we woke up as a poster board above my bed had fallen on our heads. Why that night? We were tidying it up when we heard the bathroom fan click on in the next room. (It was a switch controlled one not automatic.) we were too chicken to go and turn it off so we just pretended it wasn’t happening.

It was all explainable-ish. Maybe the poster board wasn’t very secure. Maybe my neighbour came home drunk and fell into the shared wall, knocking it down. Maybe we left the fan on and imagined it clicking on. But we didn’t leave that room until daylight, and never did a horror film marathon again.

I did have other creepy happenings in that apartment and thankfully moved somewhere less weird not long after.

I keep reading about how rats are mutating from hunger during lockdown, it's probably one of them trying to wash it's hands. Go find the poor love and give it some cheese on toast

isthismylifenow · 04/06/2020 19:21

I was speaking to someone about some woo things that had happened in my house. I'm sure there was a valid reason for each one but I was a bit spooked. During the conversation we went to the lounge and sat down, and the TV just came on at full volume. I flew up to go switch it off, and realised I had sat on the remote Grin

Bloody crapped myself

Heko · 04/06/2020 19:24

More likely to have a stranger hiding in your house than ghosts tbh

Much better. One with a mask and knife perhaps?

This same thing happened to me at a solicitors I temped at for a few months when I was 19. It was in a really old spooky building too that was apparently well-known (or rumoured, I guess would be the more appropriate word) to be haunted. I was sitting at my desk and there was a little kitchen that only had a partition wall sectioning it off. All of a sudden the tap turned on full blast, water all over the worktops and everything. But what was even weirder was that the other two people in the office just completely ignored it as if it was totally normal, no one said a word even though the tap could be heard running at full blast. It was very strange and I still sometimes wonder if it was a ghost although the rational part of my brain always says ghosts don't exist.

The only other 'spooky' story I have is from around the same time when I had a flip phone (that's how long ago it was!) that used to take pictures all by itself but only between the hours of 1am and 5am. I'd wake up in the morning to literally hundreds of photos taken while I was asleep but all you could see in them was blurry white lines. I did find it strange and it slightly freaked me out but I put it down to maybe some kind of malfunction with the phone as it didn't happen with any other phone I had after that. I'm sure though that people who are into paranormal things would say otherwise though as the photos did kind of look like those ones you see that are apparently ghostly orbs.

^ That's brilliant! You could make a fortune!

Ghosts don’t exist so it’s not that

Hmm that took less time than I thought

You don't know that. You can't possibly know that and it's such a predictable and boring thing to say.

Our (very old) house is haunted. Most families that have lived here, without corroboration, have had the same experiences.

Glad to report no further ghostly (or plumbing) issues so far.
