To be wide awake right now.

In the last few weeks insomnia has become my best buddy Envy (not envy)

I should be falling asleep easily, I should be exhausted. I could go out now and do a full ASDA shop and walk the neighbours dog right now I'm that wide awake lol.

Anyone else turned into a night owl or more of a night owl than usual??

Me!!

DramaAlpaca · 04/06/2020 03:05

Me too. I'm a night owl anyway but much worse over the last few months. In bed now though, about to turn out the light and hopefully get some sleep.

IntoTheUnknown89 · 04/06/2020 03:05

@Hueandcry It's awful isn't it?! It's playing havoc with my weight too Envy

@DramaAlpaca Good luck!

It is awful. I've always had a problem since my kids were wee as one of them had night terrors but I've been much worse lately. I'm furloughed so should have time for getting things done through the day but I'm so tired I don't have the energy

IntoTheUnknown89 · 04/06/2020 03:11

I know, I'm the same.

Pregnancy anxiety keeping me awake, meh

Hueandcry · 04/06/2020 03:12

Actually if Asda was open I'd go right now because shopping is really stressing me out with all the queuing & people not social distancing

Mouthfulofquiz · 04/06/2020 03:12

I can’t sleep either - my brain is fizzing away with thoughts about this and that. Very annoying.

IntoTheUnknown89 · 04/06/2020 03:12

@ChocolateQuiltedShitPig Are you anxious about anything in particular?

OP posts:
IntoTheUnknown89 · 04/06/2020 03:13

@Hueandcry Grin Me too. I'd probably do a few trolley skids down the aisles too Grin

@Mouthfulofquiz I hear you. I'm aching for normality!

Me too. I've always had a tendency towards being a night owl but this is getting beyond a joke now Sad.

I don't feel particularly anxious, although my mind is whirring with ideas and jobs to do around the house and I just cannot switch it off to go to sleep!

I've been in bed for 3 hours and have just given up and come downstairs for a cigarette and to see if I can find something to do...the dc will be up in about 4 hours though so I will be like the walking dead tomorrow...

catfeets · 04/06/2020 03:30

I've always struggled with sleep and it got worse while I was pregnant. Thought I'd be so knackered with the baby that my sleep would improve but here I am with a 4mth old that sleeps through and I'm the one staring at the ceiling all night.
My DP has done two 18hr night shifts with no sleep in between so he's now fast asleep and keeps elbowing me in the head but won't wake up. The baby is making irritating whistling noises and there's no way I'll fall asleep with them both annoying me.
It's my birthday today and I know I'll be really grumpy and short tempered from lack of sleep.

Sleep at the minute has become such an issue!!! I feel tired at night but for some reason struggle to actually go to sleep? These days it’s 6am before I’m nodding off 😬 Hate it! I’m normally a night owl but this is bad even on my terms

Hueandcry · 04/06/2020 03:37

I'm almost at the point now of will I just get up but if I do it's going to be an awfully long day...

Classicbrunette · 04/06/2020 03:59

Yes and I’m fed up with it. My partner coughs at night which wakes me up. He sleeps like a baby and doesn’t realise he coughs. He’s up at 5am driving lorries, and I stay at home, so I can catch up on sleep in the day.

MardiBras · 04/06/2020 04:10

The Dawn Chorus is in full swing here and I’ve yet to get to sleep.!

user764329056 · 04/06/2020 04:25

Same here Mardi, always been a night owl but chronic insomnia means I never drop off before dawn

ArriettyJones · 04/06/2020 04:27

Me too. It’s really hard to set right.

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/06/2020 04:28

Me too, its almost light outside and I'm still awake.

GnomeDePlume · 04/06/2020 04:28

My sympathies to all the insomniacs. I have at least been asleep.

I seem to have become an early starter over the last weeks. DS & DD started jobs as supermarket pickers back in March, their shift starts at 3am. They are quiet but I still disturb a little bit as they go past the bedroom door. DH is a home shopping loader so gets to start a little later at 4am. Obviously this disturbs me a little more.

The dog now fully awake by all this toing and froing decides that his guard dog duty shift is over for the night so barks until I get up to let him out.

With regular early starts I now go to bed at 9pm. I feel like I have reverted to childhood!

SpnBaby1967 · 04/06/2020 07:58

I hate insomnia & its really not unusual for me to not go to sleep at all. Annoyingly I'll not be able to nap and then still struggle to sleep the next night. I mean, how little sleep does my brain think I need!!

This lockdown has made it worse as my usual routine is gone too, all the things I went out and about doing that probably helped me sleep are gone

Hueandcry · 04/06/2020 20:01

Predictably I fell asleep this afternoon for an hour so will no doubt have the same problem again tonight Sad
