To think smear can cause late period?

Had my smear on 7th May. I called and booked it on the 4th and remember telling the receptionist I was probably going to be off my period by 7th... I'm really bad at keeping track of my dates but even if I pretend I have a 4 day period that puts the first day of my cycle on the 2nd -3rd May which means I'm now on day 32-33...

Aibu to think it's probably something to do with the smear test? Anyone else had the same thing? I can't sleep because this is playing on my mind but I'll probably fall asleep and wake up with aunt flow now I've wrote this🤞

Also been a miserable cow the last few days so that could be a sign Aunt Flow is on her way.

Stress can cause cycle delays. I assume you’ve taken a pregnancy test?

It could be stress, but I don't think the Pap Smear itself can delay your period.

Cupcakegirl13 · 03/06/2020 04:32

There’s no way a smear on its own can delay your period.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 03/06/2020 05:13

No, a smear cannot do that! Think about it...a smear test scrapes cells from your cervix, it has nothing to do with your uterus.

Thanks for the replies... I guess the smear delay is me clutching at straws. I've got all the signs I'm due on with the mood and tiredness but no sign yet. My body usually works like clockwork so I am bit concerned. Will get a test.
