to wonder when I can get my mirena removed?

I am very aware that other people are dealing with much bigger issues at the moment, but some advice would be great!

I had my mirena inserted in November - very painful, and continued to cramp for next 6 weeks constantly (dr said this was fine). It has now calmed down, but I now get stabbing cramps that seem to come from my cervix every 3-4 days along with really bad back pain, and pains and occasional numbness down my right leg. I also get painful cramps after sex, that continue for a few days.

Unfortunately with the Covid situation, I cannot get it removed for the foreseeable future.

Does anyone have any advice, or expectation for when IUD services will resume? Did anyone have a similar experience and it all settled down after giving it more time?

I don’t think those services will resume on one single day nationwide - I think it’s likely to vary from practice to practice.

At most GP surgeries, only a few doctors do IUD insertion and removal, so if all of those able to do it at a particular surgery are not currently seeing patients face to face (they may be pregnant, or they or an immediate family member may be in a vulnerable category) then it might not be at all this year.

Obviously, GP surgeries are private partnerships, so an individual GP cannot be ordered by NHS England to return to seeing patients face to face. It’s up to the partners at that surgery to risk assess.

I know it’s a totally crap situation. I know of someone desperate to start TTC who can’t get hers removed.

If you're desperate and have the money, a private gynaecologist will do it. I know many are open.

I need mine changing, times up, not sure what to do tbh?

I was in the same position.
Initially and surprisingly, I got through to a GP for a phone consult who wanted to rule out infection first for the pain, so I went into the surgery for swabs. Haven’t been able to get in contact with them since either for results or what to do next.
Last week I couldn’t bear it any longer and got a referral to a gynaecologist (I have medical cover through work so no idea of costs). I was surprised they let me go to a consultant for something like this. However it took a few tries to find one who was still seeing patients. Dr did say she didn’t expect NHS Family Planning to be open for a number of months and that there would then be a backlog.

I have just been rang by my surgery to have mine changed on 13th june, it had been cancelled due to covid twice and is now quite overdue, I didnt expect to get it done this side of july. Our GP has extended opening hours to catch up with cancelled services according to the nurse 👍🏻
