Yes protest march about the death of George Floyd but is there any need to loot businesses.

@Mumoblue
Oh, that’s what you heard so you thought you would come on an Internet forum and spout it as your own view. Try to exercise your intellect, if you even have one, and think for yourself.

tttigress · 02/06/2020 09:43

Why loot? Because you get free stuff

LudaMusser · 02/06/2020 09:45

For a lot of people a protest is an opportunity to cause as much trouble as possible. They're of very low intelligence, they're actually smashing up their own neighborhood a lot of the time and putting shops they use out of action

hymen’s rights movements

When peaceful protests like taking the knee just ruin careers and make no difference you can't be surprised if some people think smashing stuff and stealing might get a response.
We keep being told that under the US constitution its allowed to take up arms against the government if it is oppressing you so a bit of looting is rather tame.

Yearcat13 · 02/06/2020 09:48

Floyd's girlfriend Courtney Ross has asked people to stop looting in his name.

The looting seems to have surpassed protest at the murder of Floyd and shows how there is no support for law and order, millions unemployed, handling of covid 19, heralding the armed white militia, Trumps sickening reaction, tear gassing peaceful protesters to get a photo opportunity etc.

People have had enough.

@Toilenstripes I didn't realise you were the only American who had a perspective on American society! My bad for listening to other Americans. I'll think for myself by... only listening to you.

I have thought for myself, I just reached a conclusion you dont like.

YouTheCat · 02/06/2020 09:52

Why do people assume the protesters are also the looters?

Fimofriend · 02/06/2020 09:57

17 years ago, there was a big black out covering the southern part of Sweden, and half of Denmark. One of next day's news stories was that the American reporters in the region had all been scrambling to get out in the streets of the cities and larger towns to film the lootings. Cue tumble weeds flying across the street. Instead of lootings, they found people in cars stopping at the train stations to ask if anybody needed a lift and while some shops just used the old manual slide things for payment with a card, other shops let people write I Owe Yous. It was a bit of a cultural shock for the American reporters and a bit of an eye opener as to what a good social and financial safety net does for a society.

Question: why loot?
Answer: Infiltration by white power activists seeking to discredit the people marching to protest and grieve the murder of George Floyd.

Exactly this.

Have you not seen the videos on twitter of the protesters trying to stop the looters from getting into a Target? The videos of the white women spray painting and being told to stop by the protesters? The video of the alleged policeman smashing up the windows of an Autozone? The videos and pictures of piles of bricks being left in the streets where there is no construction?

I'm sure officials have said that of the arrests made, most where from out of town. People going into the protests to deliberately cause destruction.

They tried making a modern movement around peaceful protesting in 2014, BLM, and got absolutely eviscerated over it. Colin Kaepernick's sporting career was destroyed for kneeling for the national anthem.

For respectfully kneeling. Hmm

Peaceful protest doesn't work because white people not only don't listen, but dont want to listen... because they dont want to change.
