To put DS in the wrong sleeping bag

Sorry posting for traffic.

DS is 6 months old so this is our first hot weather. I have a light and a warm sleeping bag for him (1 tog and 2.5 tog). I put him in the lighter one for the first time at the weekend and he just won't sleep in it.

I'm now in a flap because it's so hot and I either put him to sleep in too hot a sleeping bag or he wakes every 30 mins to hour all night, I have a fan on and the windows open but it's still too hot.

I'm very aware that overheating raises the risk of SIDS. I had an obsession with the room temperature when he was born. I'd check it around 10/15 times a night. We were right on the border for changing sleeping bags last night so I went with the warmer one. However I'm at my wits end with what else I can do. Short of giving up sleeping in the summer.

Where is your fan? I put ours on the windowsill and it oscillates between outside and the room, kind of drags the cooler air in quicker. Sorry if you're doing that already but I didn't know that until I had dc1 and someone told me!

personally with babies "cold cry, hot die". Mine were slightly cooler and if they were cold they woke.

no judgement - you know your own child!

Also an air con unit is a godsend - they are pricey but so worth it in my opinion! We are saving setting ours up until it's really hot since we are coping right now, but that thing has saved our sleep on many a hot night in summer (does mean everyone has to sleep in our room though, but it's a small price to pay imo).

maybe it;s the heat or the fan keeping him awake, rather than the sleeping bag ?

Hot weather can irritate baby skin and make them restless. Make sure he drinks plenty of water, and keep him in light loose cotton.

@KatnissK I have a poor mans air con on the go at the moment. Big bowl of ice water in front of the fan. It seems to help. He definitely can sleep through the fan and the window open. It's just the sleeping bag. The weather breaks again tomorrow. I'll try to have it cracked by the next spell of warm weather.
