@StillMedusa our opinion of politicians - yes!! I saw a Richard II in which the odious conniving sounded like episodes of The Thick of It.

If you explore Shakespeare in detail, you understand how relevant it is even today.
Sexism, jealously , gender roles , racism , ambition, romance are all covered.

Does anyone remember a programme whereby young people from a deprived area performed Romeo and Juliet?. Many of them had always found Shakespeare difficult until they performed the play and began to understand the play.

l was going to say that exact thing myself!
l never 'got' Shakespeare. l did English Lit up to A level, and still couldn't stand it.
But Chaucer - ohhh yes. l loved that.
