To ask where you are getting your summer wardrobe?!

I have just made 4 ASOS orders and sent every single item back. The quality is shocking. I want some casual summer dresses. Some good quality maxis (sleeveless) and some lightweight broderie? Any ideas?? Honestly I’m appalled by ASOS!

Well the weather is due to break on Wednesday, so my guess is that’s the end of the summer this year. Grin. Assuming you are in the U.K. op .

Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 20:35

@fairyliz - shit. Missed it again Grin only nipped the loo

@CheshireDing I just don’t get Biden...I don’t find any of their clothes flattering on...maybe I’m doing it wrong??

Stuff I already had.

Partly because I’m furloughed so watching the pennies but also because, i don’t need new stuff to go to Aldi once a week.

The upside is that I’ve discovered loads of summery things I’d forgotten about. In normal times I’d be wearing work clothes most of the day then switch to pjs when I’m home. I’m currently got a pair of shorts and vest top I bought for my honeymoon 15 years ago (stealth boast they still fit).

That said I could be tempted by a lovely Casual summer dress, I’ve realised I only have ‘work’ summer dresses.

Uniqlo and Pull and Bear’s new sustainable range

peachypetite · 01/06/2020 20:41

I agree about asos. Even the better brands they sell seem to have gone downhill.

ChilliCheese123 · 01/06/2020 20:41

I’ve also been getting some summery active wear which is great for lockdown walks etc
Sweaty Betty sale and sportier vest tops from Nike and Adidas and Ellesse

Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 20:43

@Chillicheese123

That’s a great idea!! Attractive gym wear....I don’t own any! Gonna have a look. Geesh SB is expensive though!

I'm a fan of the American brand Free People. Half my wardrobe is stuffed full of clothes from there and they don't seem to date. They're very good in terms of quality - styling is quite bohemian - and although sometimes on the pricey side you can often snap up good bargains in the sales. And - shock horror! - ASOS carry it.

The Spanish brand Desigual uses gaudy fabrics at times but some of their more muted designs are lovely and the clothes are of excellent quality. Lead times are currently long though because of the pandemic.

I still find Next great for things like nightwear, and their kids' range washes beautifully!

Hush -
Three lovely floaty dresses I've lived in in this hot weather but most of my wardrobe is from them so it's not much change.

ChilliCheese123 · 01/06/2020 20:50

@Rosiejim make sure you sign up for the discount for new customers think it’s 15 percent off. To be fair I got two pairs of leggings from there for Xmas and they are like new every time I wash them and so flattering. Don’t think I’ll bother with buying the cheap supermarket leggings I chuck in the trolley from time to time, ever again!

M&S have some fabulous sun dresses only £22.50. They're not a long lasting classic, but brilliant for a season and cover a multitude of lockdown sins!

Northernsoullover · 01/06/2020 20:55

Another who will be using their own wardrobe Wink. I am trying not to buy new clothes for economic and environmental reasons but I usually like a few bits for my holiday (sob)

spagbog5 · 01/06/2020 20:55

@Rosiejim
I have the first one in both colours and they are brilliant.
Blue one is much better in real life.
I love there stuff it's all so flattering and comfy yet stylish if that makes sense.
Very easy to wear.
Check every morning for returns as I got mine that way even though it said sold out.
They come up very large in almost everything so definitely size down.

Sorry no idea why my reply before randomly posted again!

I'm wearing the same summer wardrobe that I have worn for the last four/five years. I buy tops and t shirts from Sainsburys and the rest from Yours, but then as long as it fits I'll wear it.

spagbog5 · 01/06/2020 20:56

Their not there

EmmaGrundyForPM · 01/06/2020 20:56

Honestly, there is NO post you can write on MN without someone trying to tell you off.

I didnt "tell you off" - but why on earth have you posted this in AIBU if you didnt want people to answer that? Surely that's what the Style and Beauty board is for.

Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 21:06

@spagbog5

I LOVE that blue dress. It looks really well made too!

I don’t suppose you have a refer a friend code Grin ?

ChilliCheese123 · 01/06/2020 21:08

@EmmaGrundyForPM I posted two threads in style and beauty that got no replies . Maybe I’m shit or something. But this is the board if you want fast replies etc

Why are you arsed anyway ? If you’re not bothered by the subject matter scroll on past

ChilliCheese123 · 01/06/2020 21:09

Do those hush dresses not totally drown anyone under 5ft5 though ?

Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 21:10

@Standrewsschool - I like that floaty skirt no 1! Thank you

Tu at sainsburys is canny as you can actually see stuff when you go in. I do food shopping at sainsburys late on say 8 or 9 and shops are pretty quiet with no queue so I'm comfortable browsing.
