To ask where you are getting your summer wardrobe?!

I have just made 4 ASOS orders and sent every single item back. The quality is shocking. I want some casual summer dresses. Some good quality maxis (sleeveless) and some lightweight broderie? Any ideas?? Honestly I’m appalled by ASOS!

My wardrobe

Richlyfruited · 01/06/2020 20:19

Annoyingly I did a big clear out at the end of last summer and got rid of most of my summer wardrobe. A lot of it was very old and washed out but I wish I'd kept hold of it just for this year - oh for the benefit of hindsight!!

Not sure what I'll do OP as I really dislike online shopping for clothes. If I ever do it I'm sorely disappointed by fit and quality (completely agree about ASOS!) and I feel guilty adding to the post mountain by sending it back....

Good idea about cutting up old jeans into shorts - I have a few pairs so I might try that!

Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 20:20

Nice! I’ve just ordered on both Zara and Mango! Mango has some really good sale prices thank you! Hopefully slightly better quality than ASOS

@LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett I’m also looking for floaty skirts - keep seeing people wearing lovely ones and am green with envy!

The quality of ASOS stuff has been shocking recently.

I've bought a few summer bits from Monki. Nice prints, lightweight and most of the dresses have pockets - win!

icansmellburningleaves · 01/06/2020 20:22

Next is even worse. It’s very depressing. Where the hell is a 61 year old supposed to buy stylish clothes. Someone help me please🤔

Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 20:22

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken - I LOVE other stories simple style but all of the clothes are a really weird shape on me? I think you have to be flat chested (really wish I had less boobs!)

OP posts:
Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 20:23

@BillyAndTheSillies yes! Pockets!! Thank you - checking out Monki

I'm just wearing old stuff, not like I'm going anywhere and I'm losing weight so dont want to buy clothes in this size.

I've always like ASOS, Boohoo, pretty little thing and those type sites. I think I've learned to see what kind of fabrics and cuts are going to be good in real life. Shein always looks like it has nice stuff but the reviews on trust pilot are crap so I'm not willing to try it.
Ebay's pretty good if you're happy with 2nd hand, I bought a lovely dress for a party at the start of the year

Luckyonetwo · 01/06/2020 20:26

Miss selfridge,Hollister, Topshop, silkfred (I don’t buy of these im to short, but know many that have), in the style and next, coast &guess are a few that I like.

Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 20:27

@EmmaGrundyForPM

I don’t have a loft.

But, also I’ve dropped two dress sizes so none of last years clothes fit me. Honestly, there is NO post you can write on MN without someone trying to tell you off.

Mango , H&M usually but naff all this year as not seeing anyone 🤷‍♀️

Have you looked at Boden and Monsoon for floaty OP? Good second hand on eBay too

Luckyonetwo · 01/06/2020 20:27

Not the next brand so much but they have lost of other brands online.

ladylunchalot · 01/06/2020 20:27

Next because delivery is free(I buy a yearly pass). I've been working the whole time NHS admin) and have needed a few new tops.

AgeLikeWine · 01/06/2020 20:28

You order from ASOS and you’re surprised that what arrives is cheap, badly-made rubbish?

Auridon4life · 01/06/2020 20:28

Poundland clothing section! Lol also littlewoods v by very is my go to for pretty summer dresses.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 01/06/2020 20:29

I tend to buy summer stuff on a two year cycle as we usually do a bigger holiday every couple of years. If that's OK with everyone.

Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 20:29

@penguinsbegin yep I’ve worked hard to lose weight since last summer and none of my clothes fit unfortunately so...any suggestions or just swanned in to be virtuous?

EBay and the large wardrobe-shaped cupboard in my bedroom.

spagbog5 · 01/06/2020 20:29

Hush -
Three lovely floaty dresses I've lived in in this hot weather but most of my wardrobe is from them so it's not much change.

Rosiejim · 01/06/2020 20:30

@AgeLikeWine - genuinely the quality has massively dropped. I’ve had some decent dresses off their a couple of years ago.

All bought between Oct-Mar from the charity shops, washed with a cap of Dettol and stored in a suitcase under the bed until needed. Todays outfit is shorts made from frayed Diesel jeans (£2) and a pink striped M&S vest which still had its tags when I got it (£1.50).
