What is so absolutely desperately necessary.... (lighthearted)

That people need to queue just to get in the car park for Ikea from 5.30am?
I’m more than prepared to be told otherwise, but I cannot think of anything I would need that badly from there that I would put myself through that experience. Not even for the Daim bars.

A cot?
A missing part?

I don't know but I live near a Ikea and there is always a queue to get in the carpark on Saturdays.

SoupDragon · 01/06/2020 18:07

I know people are desperate to get out after lockdown but that is absolutely bonkers!

itsgettingweird · 01/06/2020 18:11

Lol! I've managed to save enough for 2 things from ikea I want during lockdown.
Keyworker so worked and savings have been from ds not swimming and doing regional and national comps.

I said to ds we would wait at least a week after it's open before we go!

We did same when Homebase opened. Waited a week. Then went last hour on a Sunday and there was 5 people!

But I imagine those people are like me. The more time I've spent in my house the more its annoyed me not having it how I want it Grin

But there's not a cats chance in hell I'm going at 5.30am!

THE MEATBALLS.

I need a storage box from Ikea and had debated going this week... not if the whole world and his wife had the same idea!

imsooverthisdrama · 01/06/2020 18:16

I want to go but I don't want to queue anyway , I'll go next week when dc in school hopefully it'll be quieter .Hmm

FangsForTheMemory · 01/06/2020 18:17

bonsaidragon · 01/06/2020 18:19

Brain cells? Common sense?

and they sell Daim bars in our local co-op.

Crosswordocelot · 01/06/2020 18:21

I never understand this about the next sale on Boxing Day!
but we brits (allegedly) love a queue.
The queue for the tip here is about 2 hours too! We've got shitloads to get rid of but if ive lived with it for 9 weeks I can wait a bit longer to offload it.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 01/06/2020 18:24

I want a set of bookshelves but I don't want them enough to waste an entire day queuing to get them. The things that will go on the shelves can sit on the floor for another couple of weeks and I will carry on falling over them for another couple of weeks Grin

I use this sort of madness to my advantage and never go at the weekend. Let everyone else put up with all the crowds and queues and leave me in peace to go on a weekday evening. I do need a couple of small items from there and only live a couple of miles away so will try in a few days, just before closing but I'm not desperate, so if there's a queue to get in, I'll just leave it for now.

Some people must really like queuing, so their lockdown silver lining appears to be the numerous opportunities that they've had to indulge.

Susannah Reid has just gone up in my estimations.

She pointed out you go for realigned and hotdog and apple danish!

itsgettingweird · 02/06/2020 07:01

Tea lights! Even!

Hingeandbracket · 02/06/2020 07:46

YANBU IKEA is hell and I would never willingly go there again. No wonder I find myself living in a country full of people I have nothing in common with.
