Now illegal to have sex with partner you don't live with?

Sueannnnna · 01/06/2020 11:46

Lots of newspapers/online articles announcing this today.
Being in a private place with partner and having sex can lead to a £100 fine if i've read correctly.

The world is going cuckoo.
But who cares about seeing my boyfriend, at least I can go shopping in Primark and go sit on a packed train (sarcasm)

People are overacting to media sensation you haven't been able to meet someone from outside your house hold for weeks then it was just one person outside and now it's 6 , so the rules are relaxing , think law has been past today but you haven't been able to meet someone in your or there house since the beginning, but I mean I really can't see police going round knocking on doors to check just incase
Social distancing is still in place and without it we would still have to all be shut in

Monkeynuts18 · 01/06/2020 15:13

I have the greatest sympathy for people who live alone and I firmly believe that monogamous partners who live apart should have been included in the definition of ‘household’ from the start.

But the OP and some of the posts on here are so stupid. It’s a totally sensationalist interpretation. As has been pointed out on this thread lots of times, it’s been unlawful to have sex with someone outside your household since the very beginning of the lockdown. The measures have been relaxed - you can now meet your loved ones outside.

@Smilethoyourheartisbreaking

Jingling that is rubbish. If you like following draconian rules make yourself a medal

As the PP said she has put no one at risk. No more than if they lived together. And she is able to think for herself.

Thank you - a voice of reason!!
HeIenaDove · 01/06/2020 15:15

Im not spending ONE PENNY in any of the non essential stores that are re opening this month until i can see my parents.

strugglingwithdeciding · 01/06/2020 15:15

@StewPots ignore those that have given you a rough time , you clearly explained why you needed support ( well both of you ) and each situation is different and as I've said before there are exemptions for certain reasons just the media are running with headlines and not always making the other info clear , we won't be allowed on houses for a bit yet as in most other countries .

HesterShaw1 · 01/06/2020 15:16

If I were you, I'd get off MN and go and have a shag.

I hope all that sanctimony is compensating for your complete lack of compassion.

Wannabegreenfingers · 01/06/2020 15:16

I'm losing the plot with only being with my children. I've thoroughly enjoyed social distancing walks with friends over the last week as they have been with their Dad (1st time in 8 weeks) It's about calculated risks. If they have isolated and you have the risk is tiny. Fuck away. I would if I had a significant other.....

strugglingwithdeciding · 01/06/2020 15:16

@HeIenaDove but you can in a garden or outside space just not inside yet

@Monkeynuts media have a lot to answer for as they are confusing people more and one minute they say government is relaxing too fast next thing stirring up stories like this
Like you say measures have actually been slightly relaxed and I believe law slightly adjusted

I was answering origi op.

Stewpots, I certainly have empathy for, in a heartbreaking situation.
I have a family member seriously ill in hospital as I said.
I was commenting on a neighbour who doesn't give a toss about her long distance partner visiting her and staying over in her home. When she has 2 little ones.

Children are okay to go to school and be expected to understand about social distancing. However the private schools are to remain closed. Why is that.
Is it because rich upper class kids health is more valuable than those from working class backgrounds. That's only reason I can come up with you.

that's not true. My son's prep school went back today for Reception, year 1 and year 6 as per the government guidance. They still hope to get other children in before the end of term but that remains to be seen.

MarieQueenofScots · 01/06/2020 15:22

That isn’t punishing the Government is it? It’s punishing businesses who are probably very grateful to be allowed to open to try and keep themselves afloat!

Is there a reason you can’t see your parents in your garden?

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 01/06/2020 15:24

Not the sex thats illegal, just the visitation that led to it.

So just out of interest, if I go to stay in my Dad's empty flat to visit him in hospital because he is dying of cancer, then I can be fined.

The hospital have said I can visit.

To further complicate the scenario I live in England and he is in Scotland.

I am probably going to go anyway because I think we have lost all sense of reasonableness and are becoming scarily ready to obey rules which sometimes do not seem to have any basis in logic or common sense. Talking to someone who is getting weaker by the day on the phone doesn't cut it for me any more.

strugglingwithdeciding · 01/06/2020 15:27

People need to realise nothing regarding going into a house has changed !!!! We haven't been allowed the media is shit stirring , just yesterday they were reporting how lockdown is being relaxed too soon
It's being emphasised more as they have now allowed visits to gardens
Upto 6 so we have more freedom today than we did yesterday !!
People really need to look into this more and not read headlines only

HeIenaDove · 01/06/2020 15:27

Yes Marie I dont have one.

@feellikeanalien there are exemptions allowed , Shane the media don't print these , but Scotland have different rules to England but under your circumstances I would go regardless and pretty sure would fall under the exemptions but even if didn't sometimes you have to assess the risks yourself as such
