Seattle community cleans up downtown after riot

The majority of protests are non-violent and the protesters are a large group with lots of women and a diverse group of citizens of all ages and backgrounds.

The riots are started by young men 18-25, majority white, who are opportunists who want to grab some loot and claim to be anarchists. Most citizens in Seattle want to protest the police violence and George Lloyds death, but are sickened by those causing violence and destruction. Citizens including families came downtown on Sunday to help clean up the mess. The international press do not seem to be focusing on the fact that Americans are pulling together and care about their community. The coverage seems to be unbalanced and not focusing on the majority who are protesting peacefully.

Bellevue is a affluent suburb of Seattle. The police Chief addresses the young protesters.

It’s always the communities that come and clean up after something like this - do you think the police or authorities do it for them?
I’ve lots of footage of people cleaning and sweeping up and boarding up the damage.

Actually in a large American downtown it would be the municipal cleaning services who would clean up after a riot. Also the store owners. The citizens arrived early Sunday morning to clean up from the riot the night before, many didn't live downtown but traveled in from other local areas. The wanted to do something positive.
