To ask that if you live in Essex...

Where is nice to live. We are relocating for work from not that far away but don’t know much of Essex very well. Pre lockdown we had been to frinton and Colchester which we loved.
We have two young children. Where is a good place to live? Would ideally like to be near the sea and good schools. Could I have some recommendations?
Thank you!

I live in Essex. I don’t live in the areas you mentioned, but about 30 minutes up the road is Colchester. It’s the place everyone is currently relocating to, there has been a lot of development round that area. New build houses and retail park etc. Everyone I have known to move there is really happy with their choice.

Thorpe le Soken and Tendring are both lovely - about a 10 minute drive to Frinton and Walton on the Naze. Tendring has a good school. Kirby le Soken is also nice. I’d avoid FRINTON itself purely for the fact that their GP surgery is appalling. Great Bentley is a lovely village with a huge village green. Manning tree is also lovely and has a fast train service into London (50 minutes), I don’t know anything about their schools though. Avoid Jaywick at all costs.

If you come up with any other areas in your searches, or you find any houses you like, feel free to PM me to ask for advice on what the road/area etc is like.

I live in Essex and if moving house becomes an option soon, we'll be moving to Colchester. My DS lives there and we love it.

Chelmsford is also nice.
