Afternoon!

There is only my little boy, and rather then doing a weekly shop, I just do it every couple of days but under current circumstances I’ve been doing it weekly and don’t know if I’m overspending.

How much do you spend for your weekly shop? Any advice on saving money and maybe some healthy/tasty meal ideas?

Thank you x

£30 a week for two adults and a 5 year old. But I'm on a debt management plan so I'm keeping to really strict budgets until the end of the plan. We meal plan and no real snacking between meals (except for fruit which I get free from work and am allowed to bring back the excess at the end of each day)

£60-£70 per week for two adults, three children under 10.

I have a routine. Every week I book a slot with Morrisons, add a bottle of vodka or something expensive to the basket and check out.

When the deadline to edit my basket arrives, I sit down and work out the next week's meals from the day my shopping arrives (usually a tuesday). I take a look at what meat's on offer before I do this so I can take it into account when planning for meals and save money.

I then write a list of what I need by looking at each meal and working out what I have in the cupboard/what I need and add it to the Morrisons shop. Add in any cleaning products/soap/shower gel etc and about £5-£10 worth of snacks and extra treats for the kids.

I try to have a few vegetarian meals a week for our health and to stay below the £70 budget I set myself. I mainly cook from scratch and it helps A LOT. Mostly it's way below £70 so I get a few extra bits like pasta or meat and have it in the freezer to make another week cheaper.

It's effort but it saves money.

Usually it's average £120 a week for 3 of us and a pet. But since lockdown it's £160-180 as having to cater for lunch too

We’re a household of 3, two adults and 17 month old (also have the cat, but all his stuff if separate to our food shop)
Honestly we average about £100-130 a week on food, and I’ve been told many times by many people that it’s far too much 😂 however it works for us. I suppose I should add I have a 6ft5 husband who eats everything in sight within 5 minutes of it coming into the house and my daughter is definitely taking after dad with her appetite

We budget £300 a month for a 2 adults, 1 5 year old, a dog and cat. This also includes most toiletries and cleaning products.
