I would like to go away with my partner for a few days to Cornwall as I know travelling abroad isn’t an option until next year now, and I absolutely love Cornwall.

Shall I go ahead and book somewhere that is refundable and hope for the best ? One of my favourite sea front restaurants in Cornwall has stated they are opening their outside area from July 4th!

I just don’t want to piss the people of Cornwall off by being an unwanted Holiday maker!

Suggestions ? Residents of Cornwall? Anyone ?

I think it could go either way, but quite a lot of sites seem to have a coronavirus guarantee that means you can cancel/amend your booking without penalty (just ensure you really dig into those T&Cs). So you could book it and move if needed.

It might be that bars/restaurants are not running properly then though you might not be able to have a sit down meal but in the traditional way.

A lot of people I know have ‘postponed’ their big birthdays to next year, so that’s another option too (although a bit less fun!)

Do you know what. A couple of weeks ago I'd have been saying "don't be so bloody silly, that's very risky!"

But now? I don't think anyone knows what's going to happen in August. Things do appear to be looking up and I am sure the government want to restart the tourism sector as soon as they can.

That said, I personally wouldn't book anything JUST yet. I'm hoping it all works out for you! Wine

Before the pandemic, we booked our honeymoon for a week in the Lake District. The wedding may not be happening now but we can cancel fee free until 4 days beforehand. If you can cancel it without an issue then why not! If it all goes ahead, you'll be glad you booked or cross you didn't...I'd rather have it unable to go ahead because of it not being viable than because I hadn't booked!Grin

Mine too OP. I actually have a weekend away in Germany booked at the bank holiday weekend. I'm still feeling slightly optimistic that I can go by then!

I would book it! Even foreign travel will be allowed by July - pressure is too much.
Cornwall people might protest but at the end of the day, majority of them are having income from tourism (unless they are second / third home owners)
