How can I see what he does online?

Hi, posting on behalf of my sister.

DN (13) and his cousins (ages 12-16) are close. Because of the variance in ages DS thinks that DN is being exposed to content he isn't ready for. She saw he was on a "black" browser and later realised it's the "private safari". She has screen time set up but if he uses private she can't see what he's doing.

Also, he is about to be granted access to a MacBook. It is to use outside of the house at a tutoring session he goes to - this will resume with schools as he has some additional needs. The MacBook is owned by DS but is new and will be used mainly for his education. The family usually use google chrome but this has the "incognito" function.

Essentially DS wants to know if any mums have had experience with two things:

  1. a browser for iphone that doesn't look "kiddy" but doesn't have a private browsing mode (she has removed safari from his iphone since she found out he was hiding things)

  2. a way to monitor any use on a MacBook. It won't be connected to their internet so she can't just use the child mode she has on her MacBook. Is there a screen time for MacBooks?

Any advice is appreciated.

FWIW she has tried speaking to him about what he's doing but he denied it. She wants him to come to her first about anything he may access or she wants to know what it is in case it instead provokes a conversation (ie porn)
