Help I got water up babies nose

I accidentally got water up my babies nose whilst washing her hair in the bath. I didn’t think much of it, thought it was only a tiny amount, sat her up wiped her face. She started coughing then started crying so I got her out and patted her back and water came out!! No sure from mouth or nose! I’m so upset, I used to be a lifeguard so I know about dry drowning symptoms of which she has none, but I’m really paranoid

Has anyone ever done anything like this? I’m so upset I don’t know if should take her to A&E to be safe

She seems absolutely fine, hasn’t coughed since, chest sounds ok and she’s cooing away. She’s happily had a bottle. I was just so shocked when she brought water out of her nose/mouth

I wouldn't worry, I definetly wouldn't take her to A&E, try to relax. If you have any further concerns if phone 111 but honestly I think she's going to be fine

Yesterday I was bathing my 5 month old and he swallowed some water accidently, he's been fine. Don't worry I'm sure she's fine just keep an eye xx

I used to worry so much about dry drowning too, then one day after a particularly splashy bath I was worrying in front of my mil and she looked at me as if I had two heads and said in 30 years of paediatric nursing she had never seen a case of dry drowning. I found that really reassuring.

I'm sure she'll be absolutely fine. Probably just a bit of water from her nose that didn't go anywhere dangerous.

It can be scary can't it. I remember carrying my grotty few month old baby in my arms and we walked into an open cupboard door. I cried for an hour! Also sobbed when I accidentally caught her when cutting her fingernails. She's now 14 and doesn't have any long last effects from it! x

When my DS was about 5 months old he slipped out of my hand and went fully under the water, he’s now a strapping 15 year old. I know when they are wee you worry about everything, I’m sure she will be fine. 😊

Just googled dry drowning, as never heard of it before. Scary ! My DS has slipped under the water before and he was fine after but I would never have thought symptoms could show24 hours later.

This article might be reassuring. Essentially "dry drowning" is not an accepted medical condition. It's a myth.
