Do you think they'd notice a difference?

When I worked in my current place of work - I was fat - 13stone at 5ft 1, lacked confidence and was bullied. By bullying I mean the more subtle, snide remark type than anything else. For example, the bloke I sat next to was an extremely fat, 20 stone plus guy who was a cunt to me. He'd say out of the blue, no context for it, "I'm not fit and you're not, either". Don't get me wrong at 13st I was aware I was obese but these comments were out of their reasonable context - he just said things like this out of the blue and I'd never do that to someone. I'd only make a comment about weight if for instance someone I was close to asked for straightforward honest feedback. I didn't dress very well I was often scruffy and often felt very low mood. However, I've been off work since January due to anxiety and then in March was on furlough anyone. In February I had a break through, I came off my meds, went on an diet /exercise programme and am now down to 10st. I wanted to lose the weigh relatively quickly so since exercise restrictions have been eased I've been out running 3 times a day and stuck to a strict calorie-controlled diet. I'm still fat in the sense BMI slightly over 25 - but I feel SO MUCH MORE LIKE A 'NORMAL' person!! We won't be going back to the office for at least a few weeks and by that time I will have lost more weight - my anxiety has eased and mood improved on my weight loss as I was unable to do this before. I feel a lot better in myself emotionally as well. I've not seen any colleagues since I've been off.
Do you think they'll notice a difference in me when I go back? I hope this is the start of the new, confident me!!

WELL DONE! That is an amazing achievement - and if they don’t notice they will be a bunch of fibbers because that is an awesome loss. With the exercise you’ll be a different shape too! Keep it up!

WasDuckNowBeautifulSwan · 28/05/2020 16:45

Thanks IndigoHexagon for the encouragement!! It has been difficult at times!!

IncrediblySadToo · 28/05/2020 16:46

Congratulations!!

Really you need to look at why you care. They're horrible people, you don't need their approval.

If they don't notice, you'll be at liberty to hand out SpecSavers brochures, but they might not say or anything or they might be rude in a different way 🤷🏻‍♀️

Use your new found confidence not to give a 💩

GrumpyHoonMain · 28/05/2020 16:47

I think for people to notice you often have to go down 2-3 dress sizes when you are fat as that can often change your body shape. After I lost weight permanently people only noticed when I got down to a 12-14 (from an 18-20) but I am a pear with a smallish waist anyway.

LouiseTrees · 28/05/2020 16:47

They should definitely notice in any case. Especially so if you get new clothes that fit your now smaller frame. Well done!

WasDuckNowBeautifulSwan · 28/05/2020 16:48

Haha IncrediblySadToo - you are right - I don't need their approval and I do probably need to look at why I care. but yes - now I don't give a Monkey's!!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 28/05/2020 16:48

Please be careful it isn’t becoming obsessive though, running three times a day isn’t good for you either.

Congrats on the weight loss.

SeasonFinale · 28/05/2020 16:48

Well done. I am sure they will notice and unfortunately there may still be some snide remarks because people get envious. But ignore them. I am so impressed because I am eating for England. I wish I had your willpower. Once again well done.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 28/05/2020 16:49

Well done, but try not to care what they think. The guy that constantly says rude things will only find something else to pick on you about, that’s the sort of person he is so don’t give his opinion any value

DontTouchTheMoustache · 28/05/2020 16:49

Well done op, you have done amazingly well and should be really proud of yourself.

They will notice but dont be shocked if they dont say anything, they are clearly arsenals who love to make you feel bad, dont rely on them for any validation. Stay happy and healthy, a life well lived is always the best revenge.

WasDuckNowBeautifulSwan · 28/05/2020 16:51

Thank you so much for all your encouraging comments!!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat - yes I've got to be careful not to get obsessive I'm a bit 'all or nothing' I'm afraid!!

Well done! I also understand shy you’re trying to do it fast.

Dont give him the time of day.

Also, ive no doubt he will start saying things like you looked better with more weight on, or you now look gaunt, or youre now too thin. Jealousy is ugly and bullies in the workplace will often do this. My sister gets it every time she loses weight. She doesnt look too thin, gaunt or whatever other nonsense they say! Theyre just plain old nasty wankers.

OhhhPeee · 28/05/2020 16:54

They sound awful, OP.

I’d be cautious - these sorts of people will be watching you like a hawk, waiting for you to put some weight back on, making comments when you eat something healthy (“you’re going too far - you look ill”) or if you eat something unhealthy (“watch out, you’ll be fat again”).

Could you use your confidence to start looking for a new job? I know it’s not an ideal climate but it depends on your particular industry, I suppose.

Iooselipssinkships · 28/05/2020 16:55

Inspiring OP! When you return have your head held high and swan your way in, flicking hair over shoulder in slow mo and giving the horrible cunt the biggest smile with a middle finger raised.

Be proud mate, you've done really well.

WasDuckNowBeautifulSwan · 28/05/2020 17:00

giving the horrible cunt the biggest smile with a middle finger raised

Thanks so much everyone for your very supportive comments!!

They'd need to be blind if they didn't notice! Well done on your achievement. I lost 3 stone a few years back and I never felt better.

WasDuckNowBeautifulSwan · 28/05/2020 17:03

Well done Mummyshark2018 - the feeling is amazing isn't it?

pickleface · 28/05/2020 17:05

You've done so well and I'll be very surprised if nobody noticed.

For Reference I am 5'3, weighed 12st2 and over the past year have got down to 9st10 and many people have noticed and I've lost less than you.

Of course, everybody shows it differently but I'd still be surprised.

WasDuckNowBeautifulSwan · 28/05/2020 17:06

Congratulations pickleface that's an excellent achievement!

Juanmorebeer · 28/05/2020 17:08

Well done OP! That's a great loss they will def notice! You must be sizes smaller already?

What size are you now in at 10st? I'm the same height as you so also trying to lose weight right now but finding it hard.

Cocolapew · 28/05/2020 17:09

You've done this for yourself not them, fuck 'em Grin massive well done, that's an amazing achievement Star

WasDuckNowBeautifulSwan · 28/05/2020 17:10

Juanmorebeer - I fit into both 12 and 14

Good luck with your mission!! Hard isn't it?

OP posts:
Lindy2 · 28/05/2020 17:10

Well done. That's a great achievement.

Remember though you've done this for you though not them.

When you go back in be proud of yourself. I'm sure you'll get lots of positive comments. Fat idiot will probably still be rude though and find something negative to say. You'll know he's jealous of your achievement though.

KatherineJaneway · 28/05/2020 17:18

Well done!

They will notice a difference however, as he is such an arse, he will like start making 'skinny' jokes at you Sad
