Im sure i cant be the only one noticing people around them getting haircuts?
Ive accidentally synced my phone to my dmil imessaging account (as she signed up using my email when i helped her set up) and discovered that shes booked a hair cut for tomorrow.

She lives with my dbil who is on the official shielding list and is sheilding. She is also a cleaner for elderly retirement flats thing(who has lost 2 clients to covid!)

We were planning on meeting in a park thurs for her birthday, how she thought i wouldnt notice i dont know. Im not really worried for my or my kids safety from her (as will follow social distancing) but am completly outraged! Im later stages of pregnancy so am annoyed shes taking risks when shes our childcare if im in labour so will probably call it off. Half of me whats to go so i can ask why her hair is suddenly permed!

Aibu to call her out on her new cut?

no point in being annoyed, you could get the virus from anyone

LovingLola · 28/05/2020 09:49

What a mad coincidence that the first iMessage your dmil received is from her hairdresser !

Covidkate · 28/05/2020 09:52

@PecorinoPear

Sorry i realise its not clear. Its her birthday (not when we are meeting), but we figured id see her face to face as we needed to talk anyhow

The social distance thing was that the kids haven't been in contact with her, so im not worried in the sense that she hasnt already put us at risk, its more about the onward plans.

Re reading i can see what you mean!

I have noticed a lot of men having fresh haircuts

savehalloween · 28/05/2020 09:53

I'd be more annoyed about you reading my messages! The minute you noticed it was synced you should have removed it.

HannahStern · 28/05/2020 09:53

Any hairdresser working at the moment is doing so illegally. Your MIL should not be getting her hair done.

However, if your MIL is a cleaner for elderly retirement flats who have has lost residents to Covid-19, your MIL is already at high risk.

MsJaneAusten · 28/05/2020 09:54

How do you sync a phone? More importantly, how can you check if your phone is synced to someone else’s?

Covidkate · 28/05/2020 09:56

@LovingLola

Look i realise it seems odd, but we were only synced briefly. She didnt recieve any texts for me and our main contact is via whatsapp. Its mostly businesses that text me now. Its up to you whether you think i was spying

Hence i didnt tell her because i know it looks like spying. Especially for mil who had limited tech knowledge

There are people out there that dont believe there is even covid 19 that we havent had a first wave that all the deaths are seasonal deaths and they are being reported as covid 19 when asked why the entire world wants to trash the economy apparently it's to do with Brexit

Because that clearly makes more sense

Honestly your husband should look after the kids if your so concerned about the risk go it alone

Covidkate · 28/05/2020 09:59

Syncing is an i message thing i think. Its only because i set up her phone, so when i tried to set up a new iphone for me that i put in the same details.

I think its just an iphone thing for the iMessage function? I had to get dh to sort it so im not the right person to ask im afraid

Annoyed? No
Jealous? Hell yes!

Darbs76 · 28/05/2020 10:01

My friend got her hair dyed and cut by her mobile hairdresser. Definitely not allowed but of course many break rules

roarfeckingroar · 28/05/2020 10:02

Your post is very "me me my childcare" and little concern for her.

I had my hair cut last week. My choice as an adult.

DuggeeFanclub · 28/05/2020 10:06

I haven’t noticed anyone I know getting haircuts (professional ones that is, I’ve seen a few DIY bowl cuts!) tbh. I am so desperate to get a haircut, as are 90% of the UK I’m sure but wouldn’t risk going to a hairdressers or having one visit my home at present. I saw on the news the other day that some hairdressers have opened and are offering a dodgy back alley type service! Their excuse was worrying about their income which seems a lot more reasonable than Dominic Cummings excuses for what he did Hmm

didofido · 28/05/2020 10:06

I had a text from my hairdresser two weeks ago offering me an appointment - for 10th July! I grabbed it - it'll be more like sheep-shearing by then....

Covidkate · 28/05/2020 10:08

Its interesting to hear that its not uncommon. We've been quite strict about what we've been doing so feel we have lost touch with what the general consensus of what is okay is hence why i wanted to check in here

Every guy I know has bought hair clippers. I did my OH’s hair.

VioletCharlotte · 28/05/2020 10:09

Lots of mobile hairdressers are operating on the quiet. I wouldn't go to one, but I do feel for them as some of them are getting no help whatsoever from the government.

SimonJT · 28/05/2020 10:10

A scumbag hairdresser has been cutting her scumbag clients hair in lockdown near us, thankfully she was caught last week and received a fixed penalty notice.

VickyEadieofThigh · 28/05/2020 10:15

My (female) partner and I have invested in hair clippers and hairdresser's scissors and she's done a really good job on my hair. She's done her own (as she reasonably doesn't trust me to do anything other than a bit of tidying of hers), too.

In fact, she's done such a good job on mine (there are quite a few tutorials on Youtobe, which she watched at some length before committing to doing mine) that we're considering her doing it even after the hairdressers re-open.

SimonJT · 28/05/2020 10:17

@Onone

I’ve been doing my boyfriends hair, it’s curly, he has it short on the sides and longer on the top. I’ve been doing a fairly decent job where his fade is concerned. He wouldn’t be able to hold clippers/scissors, even if he could I wouldn’t trust him near my hair. It is now long enough for a tragic man bun.
roarfeckingroar · 28/05/2020 10:17

My hairdresser is a close friend and we meet up for 1 - 1 walks anyway. She did mine at her (own) salon on the quiet a week or so ago, both wearing gloves and masks. Can't feel guilty about it.

PafLeChien · 28/05/2020 10:24

If you are meeting up with her in the park with your children then you are breaking rules too.

WHY? Confused

WoollyMammouth · 28/05/2020 10:25

@Onone

I have noticed a lot of men having fresh haircuts
Because they’ve been buying clippers. I did my DH’s and DC from watching YouTube videos.
Crunchymum · 28/05/2020 10:29

You want someone working in a carehome with known CV19 deaths, to be your childcare when you go into labour?
